Nice moderate challenge in really good shape
Certainly not the longest or most difficult but you get to use every club and is a fun round of golf.
Swap the Nines?
Great course, great value. Target golf and a little tight...have to hit spots (unfortunately I didn't and my score shows)....thought I had while playing- they should switch the nines on this course. 2 is a bear at 600+, 4 is much more difficult than it looks and in general the front is a much tougher test. Too many times while playing here I am on the way to shoot a million after the first few holes. No idea if this is feasible, but (at least I, for one) would prefer to see those holes anywhere but off the bat! All in all though, this is a beauty!
lack of amenities
Didn't like that there was no water or beer cart people on the course. It's been one of the hottest summers on record. No food to offer other than day old sandwiches.
Hello, yes, I agree, lack of the beverage cart continues to be an issue here at Savannah. In the past few weeks we have been managing to get it out on the weekends.
Yes, we are also not open in the restaurant for items other than hot dogs, sausages or sandwiches.
However, the sandwiches are fantastic and made fresh every day! Chris
Delightful , inexpensive course
I have been playing this course since its inception. It has everything from long par 5's to challenging par 3's and 4's. Water in play on many holes, fast but consistent greens. Picturesque views from everywhere.
This course, with it's Gold, Blue, White and Red tee boxes will suit every level pf player.
Highly recommend anyone who enjoys the game to give this a course consideration.
Great staff, good course, terrible owner!
How an owner behaves with his customers and staff is one of the best indicators of a business. Sadly, the owner/GM of this course, John Madeiros, isn't good on either of those fronts.
We had the unpleasant experience of being the group to play right in front of him. From the 2nd hole itself, he pressured his staff to come tell us to speed things up, and rush along since the owner is behind us.
We skipped hole 3 to allow him play at the pace he wants but he drove his cart up to us on hole 4 tee, only to tell us the same thing and say that "you're costing me money" because our group wasn't the greatest at putting.
Similar incidents occurred with him the rest of the day and while we offered to let him pass ahead of us (with no one playing behind him) he chose to decline it, but keep the pressure on us for no reason even though the course was relatively empty that day.
However, the rest of the staff is some of the nicest people. At the end of our round, multiple staff members apologized to us for the owner's rudeness and understood the difficult situation we were faced with by playing in front of him. This to me, is a prime example of an owner who doesn't care for his customers and staff, but only the money he pockets.
Long story short, good course, great staff, but if you have to play in front of/behind the owner himself -- may god be with you!
Hi There,
Thank you for taking the time to write this review complete with your compliments to the staff!
While I do apologise for you having felt pressured during your round, the Owner, John, was only looking out for the best interests of everyone on the golf course. He may not have been perfect in his approach but his message is consistent with our policy.
When the golf course is busy (and we have been very busy), letting groups play through other groups is not an option. As each group is a foursome, it is expected that everyone play at the same pace and make it through in a reasonable amount of time (between 4 and 4.5 hours). Letting groups through when it is busy will inevitably delay the pace and as such is not allowed. I assure you that behind John's foursome were many more players right on his heels.
It is quite well known that Mr. Medeiros is not the fastest player himself so if he is the one that is telling you to speed up, there must have been a real issue. As I personally tell the other groups that tend to be lagging behind, sometimes it is necessary to upset one group of four telling them to speed up then it is to ruin the day of the 150 players behind that group.
Our reality is that if someone had not intervened with this situation, instead of this 1 poor review, we may have had 20 poor reviews criticising us for pace of play issues and lack of staff intervention.
Thank you again for your review. I hope you will come and see us again.
Chris

Always enjoy playing this course, this particular round the only problem was the slow group ahead of us. They were playing from the back tee’s ,which was laughable having watch them barely hit hit it 150 yards, and in all directions.would have been nice to see a Marshall move them ahead a couple of holes as it was blistering hot and they were slower than a sloth.Having said that this is a wonderful golf course and it’s always in amazing condition, and a real joy to play.Hope to play it again real soon.
Thank you so much for the glowing review and the kudos!
Yes, I agree, the golf course would be better suited having the back 9 as the front 9 and vice versa. Unfortunately, proximity to the putting green and routing around the clubhouse make this a difficult task.
Thanks again for your kind words and suggestion!
See you again,
Chris
