Slowwwwwwww
Usually a good day at RO. Today there were 4 groups waiting on the tenth tee. It's pretty painful to wait 23 minutes to tee off. It rained fairly hard the night before and the course showed it in spots. Overall RO has a really nice layout, save for one hole. Probably better deals out there for the money but the proximity to the city adds value.
Nice challenging course
The course was in excellent condition. Pace of play in a foursome was just over 4 hours - hardly waited. The only criticism is the fee is a bit high and doesn’t include range balls. Also, the refreshment person was hardly visible through the round. It was a hot day and we saw her on the 2nd and 16th holes. Otherwise great day.
Thanks for your feedback
Thanks
We will improve!
Great Value/So slow
The course was in great condition, and they handled our reservation well and got us on right away. At hole 10 we got stuck behind a tournament with people in front hitting 2,3 balls EACH. This course has a ton of tournaments and the round took at least an hour longer than it should.
We will let the proshop know this feedback. We usually leave a large buffer of time so that you don't catch up to the tournaments.
Layout/pin placement/tee blocks
So I'll start by saying this was my first round at this track so I think maybe playing it more times may yeild better results but there were a few things I'd point out about this round. First off staff were fantastic friendly and courteous. The tee blocks were is decent enough shape but the blue tees we played from had several holes with very uneven tee ups. Fairways and greens were very playable altho fairly inconsistent from hole to hole ranging from spongy to lightning fast. Few curious pin placements namely on 9 where the pin was cut on a down slope approx 3 feet from the fringe leading to a rough valley. Just seemed the most unnecessarily challenging spot I've seen. Overall pace was solid conditions were good and the course was challenging. Just a few things that kind of wrecked it for me off the tees and a few odd pin spots and inconsistent rolling greens. On a different day of the year alot of this might not be an issue but at nearly 90 bux a round I'd golf elsewhere for sure.
Great feedback, we will let our superintendent know.
Great course
The course is in excellent condition and lot's of water but not really in play. If you play safe you can avoid the hazards. Greens in excellent condition but fast and very challenging, makes for a great round. A must play course.
Thank you!
Don’t be late!
After a one hour forty minute drive from Richmond Hill to Milton via the 401 in rush hour, I was 5 to 10 minutes late. I paid, but the staff told me as I missed my tee time he would “ fit me in , if there was an opening. I explained the long, frustrating drive, but the staff person did not appreciate I made my best effort. This added to my frustration. Luckily, once outside, the starter said there was an opening but to ensure we keep up pace of play, and not fall behind. Due to all this stress, the first five or six holes were frustrating and I felt like leaving. I didn’t but I felt if the staff were more understanding, I would have enjoyed the experience more.
It is a beautiful course. The layout offers a challenging forest type course with lots of water & traps to keep you on your toes. I would recommend the course, but not if you have tee time during rush hour and you are coming from Toronto or York Region at that time. The staff might try to be more welcoming & understanding if someone is a few minutes late.
Certainly frustrating to read. traffic in Toronto is killing our souls! We will let the proshop know.
Thanks
Great course a little pricey but the course is well kept
We have some new after 3pm and 5pm rates!
Royal Ontario Golf
Overall rating was average only due to the fact that course conditions were very wet & cart paths only. The course should offer either a slight discount or a minimal food voucher for conditions like this.
That might be a good idea as nobody likes the cart path only rule!
Amazing Course
I Love this Royal Ontario Golf Course. This is a stunning, well maintained golf course with such variety on every hole. It demands different shots in the bag. The maintenance crew is the best in the biz. Course is always in top notch condition. You pay a little more to play here but it’s worth it. The course is carved beautifully into the surrounding forest. I highly recommend this course.
Thanks
Rainy day!
The course was okay. Lots of water and mud to deal with. The greens were very slick! This was my first time playing the course and my second time playing a Kaneff owned property (Century Pines Previously...loves it!). For $180 plus taxes for two golfers at this course wasn’t worth the price point! Additionally, pre-round practice range wasn’t even open for the season.
Thanks for the feedback. We will look at better pricing options in the spring next year.
Thanks for the feedback, typically we don't have waits on the 10th. Something out of the ordinary must of happened.
