Terrible tees Photo submitted by JSP2118 on 08/25/2019
First time at Cardinal
I have been looking forward to playing one of Cardinal’s four courses for quite sometime. I played the round with my girlfriend at one of the early morning tee times.
Initially when I booked I thought we’d be playing alone. However, the Starter group us with another couple. The couple were great but the pace of pay was slower due to being 4 people.
The days start times were pretty messed up! It seems that everyone was given the same tee time and were paired up! Or we were all put into a queue. Either way our round lasted longer than expected, and we weren’t able to finish the last 4 holes.
Next time I book I’ll be very aware of the possible changes.
Pace of Play Was Way Too Long
Overall pace of play ruined this experience. First 7 holes we played as a foursome in 1.5 hrs, then following 6 holes we were playing at a rate of about 20 minutes per hole, each tee deck has 3 groups lined up at all times. Luckily two groups ahead of quit so towards the end the pace picked back up. Course overbooked their tee sheet and lead to really jammed up course and slow play. Conditions of course were great but pace of play ruined this. I wouldn't go to this course on a sunny day because this is what you will get.
Untapped potential
The bones of the course were excellent. The layout was challenging without being punishing and the fairways and greens were healthy firm and fast.
What is clear is that the maintenance staff cannot keep up with the poor etiquette of the average golfers. Untended ballmarks, cleat marks on the greens and countless unreplaced divots really lowered the playability and experience. Every putt was affected by one or 2 such blemishes.
The course was also crowded making for an extremely slow round with 2 or more groups waiting at every tee box. The pit stop at the turn was also out of stock of many items on the menu, forcing groups into longer waits to grab a quick bite before continuing the round
Cardinal East Course Review
The pace of play was so slow that we have to wait on every hole. There was no marshall on the course to control the pace. It took us over 5 hours to play 17 holes as we have to skip one hole in order to make time for our appointment after the game. Do not recommend to play this course especially on weekends.
Get ready for 5 hour rounds
Go here if you want to play 5 hour rounds. There are no marshals on the course, people taking 10 shots on a par 3. Going to avoid going forward.
Disappointed
This is the second time I played the East Wing and the conditions were very poor. It is to be suspected because the time of season. My score is low because the training of the staff is extremely poor. It was mid Saturday and the cart girl had no food except for Chocolate bars, chips, and peanuts. When we rented the cart there should always be a warning that it is cart path only. I would of never rented the cart. There were times when we were running to get back to our cart because we had hit the ball on the opposite side of the cart path and the group behind us was waiting. These are little things that add up to big things.
Soggy course
Club only had the front 9 of the East and the back 9 of the West course available for play that day because of the amount of water on the course. I think that the only playable 9 was the East course.
Still pretty wet
The course is still pretty wet therefore only car path only and thus pace of play is slow. But today’s weather is excellent and offer a chance to stay out under the sun and get sweat.
The green is still in pre-season condition and do not expect much out of it. Fairways are quite wet and making walk in walk out a tough job if you are not yet warming up. Still an enjoyable pre-season round.
Early Spring
To begin no starter to give directions, wet conditions of the course.Greens were aerated, no warning was given..
Course toilets closed.
Played the East course and the fairways condition are fair only as too many brown spots. The green may need a cut as the grass is thick and making the ball rolling pretty slow. Staff are very friendly and service is up to standard. Overall, it is still a good course.
Goodtimes
Very good facility.....great staff...good course.
Played both the east and west courses in one day for under $100 . Can't beat that!!!!
