great shot making course
greens need some attention, as is the case with most courses around Houston, 3's challenging, a couple of short 4's that offer birdie opportunities, we will play again
Hope the Goose can recover
What was once a nicely kept course has turned into a goat ranch. Being from the area, I played it alot in it's heyday. That said, poor management has rendered it a broke wing duck. Like Country Place, the Gantz management group recently took over operations. They have alot of work ahead of them and have started with sodding some of the greenside traps. The fairways are bizarre in that they are not flat. They are almost like an overgrown garden with rows. Driving a cart across them can cause bodily injury or at least throw you out the cart. They are mowing fairways and greens, but the rough is mostly clover and is almost calf deep. Any shot out of they fairway will most likely end up a lost ball stroke. The fleet of carts are old and we had to push ours up the ninth hole and back to the clubhouse to get another cart. All that said, the staff realizes their challenge and are making some efforts where they can. They've lowered prices and are extremely accommodating. The "Old Guard" Humble Oil/Exxon wallets that worked so hard to build a private tract are surely rolling around in their graves.
Quiet & nice course layout. Tee boxes & greens need cutting. Bumpy fairways!
For the cost, this course is a good value. The greens were VERY plush but needed cutting. Putts slowed so fast that the golf ball seemed like a baseball. Tee boxes were rough and the fairways were like "motocross woop-de-do's".
With all that said, the course has beauty and challenge. I would recommend this course to anyone looking for a bargain and will play the course again.
No title
This tight course has greens suprisingly in better shape than surrounding area courses. Fairways are still like minature roller coasters - very rough riding!
Course itself
My friend and I are retired and just enjoy playing golf. We both will play this course again. The greens were very good and will get better . Fairways were cut, tee boxes were flat, several hazards and dog legs occasionally . Price was great.
Great Course
We arrived and was greeted by a super friendly staff at the counter and were advised that the greens had just received some work but the work was not an issue at all for us. The staff was super friendly and problems were addressed and handled in a most efficient manner. The course was very challenging and we look forward to placing it in our list of courses we will play on a regular basis.
Good course for the price.
Played this course in summer of 2011 and swore I would never play it again. I heard from someone that it had been brought back into a playable condition. Hearing that along with the great price I got on Golf Now I figured I would try it again. The course was in so much better shape than the last time I had played and I enjoyed the round. The course could still use a little work, the fairways are still very bumpy and rough but I would definitely go back.
Great golf, at a great price..
From what the staff said they are under new management and are really working towards turning this course around. The fairways were a little rough, but not too bad. The greens were in pretty good condition and rolled great.
For the price you can't beat it... I will continue to keep an eye on this place and hopefully they bring it to the level they are expecting.
OK for the money. Friendly folks.
I played Goose Creek for the first time Sunday, 4/7/13. The course is not in great shape but you should know that by the price. The greens were in good shape. They're not what I'd call fast, but pretty decent. Stay out of the bunkers. There is a little sand on the surface but hard pan a half inch down. The holes are not very long but sometimes do require a shaped shot. The staff was super friendly and the price is right, so Go! Play!
Fairways are terrible
I suppose ant beds for the past few years have left fairways that looks like a mogul sky course. I hit a nice three wood that bounced like a ping pong ball in 4 diferent directions. This course needs to take one fairway at a time to get it back in shape.
I am sorry for the not so good review. should have expected for the price a not so great experience. course needed much attention
seen so many ant hills throughout the entir the entire course. They say everyday on the golf course is a good day. I disagree while I played this course. The person in the pro shop was not even friendly. It was a mess. It's unfortunate I have to write this as I have given great reviews at many other courses. It just seemed nobody cared. Thanks
Good greens
They told me, that they are a new administration and the are working on the farways let give some time and they are very nice.
very poor condition , very bumpy fairways
Hold onto your cellphone. This is one bumpy course. Very nice staff but very poor course condition. Cow pasture.
Good course for the price
I gave it 3 stars because the greens are in such nice shape. The fairways are not very well maintained and you could slip a disc in your back if you try to go through the fairway too fast in the cart because it's so bumpy. However, the staff was very nice and the greens were in great shape, so I enjoyed the day. The course was not real crowded and the one foursome I caught allowed me to play through and were very friendly about it. I was never in the bunkers, so I can't speak to the bunkers, but they looked average at best. As for difficulty, if you're not hitting the ball straight, you can find plenty of trouble with water and OB.
Overall, I enjoyed the round and could see myself returning again in the future.
Looking forward to the renovations!
Staff very friendly. Great greens! I only gave 2 stars for the two reasons I listed. As for the rest of the course, yes you need to renovate, & new golf carts! Will visit again AFTER renovations, looking forward to the changes! In your current condition, NO I will not recommend at this time, maybe after the renovations.
course is getting better
Course is getting better but fairways need some help with leaves and stuff, but greens are ok.
Nice Staff & Course is pretty good
Started on back nine. Greens in great shape
Sand traps needed some work - probably due to recent rains
Fairways very uneven
Liked the layout - need to highlight hazards (thought I had a clean layup - lake over the rise) Splash
Staff was great
Would definitely play again now that I have played it
Scored well on front nine
Great course in 1956.
The course is in horrible condition. The fairways are unkept and are littered with what looks like gopher mounds.
Maintenance
We used to play this course a lot and the fairways has allways been rough.
We moved out of the area and haven't played there for a long ttime.
20 dollar a person is a good deal, but what a suprise.
The course is in terrible shape and we will not go back there. I was going to tell a friend about the price, but I changed my ming.
Once again the course was in terrible condition.
Great Value!
For $20, this course is great. the greens are well taken care of. I would play here again.
