Good Value
Course was in great shape! All greens were in great shape and they were fast. Challenging course well layed out other than the construction after 15. Extremely long ride over to 16. Fairways were green and some were narrow making for good drives. Great value for this course. Pace of play was slow we waited on every shot and a lot of the times there was 3 groups on the tee box. Overall would recommen the course and will go back.
This is much improved from years ago
They put a lot of work to make this course enjoyable again, including the beautiful new clubhouse. Simple lay out but with challenging holes and narrow fairways at time make this course a good option that is open to the public. The fairways and tee boxes are on the hard side and pace of play can be a bit slow at the begining of the season but the overall a pretty good simple course in the area. There is no driving range but there are 3 nets to hit into to warm up.
Good course and good value
Have played the Gatineau Golf Club many times (50+). THis is a nice track with a very good layout. Fairways are firm and fast most of the season (clay base in Aylmer). Hit it straight or you will be frustrated. The greens are very large which can be deceptive and led to many 3 putts (as they are also a little on the slow side).
The course plays better every year as it matures. Definitely a recommend if you are in the Ottawa downtown or Gatineau area.
Nice club house with patio for after the round and they have a driving range but it is far from the 1st tee get their early if you need the range.
Conveniently located in Gatineau
I played here with a friend and we enjoyed the outing. The weather was a bit chilly that day so there wasnt many people playing. The course conditions were good, especially for the time of year.
Tertres de départ, fausses de sable
Les tertres de départ font vraiment pitié et ont besoin d'un sérieux réaménagement.
Les fausses de sable manque de sable et d'entretient.
Gatineau golf course
Beautiful new clubhouse! Only negative for the day that I played was the front nine was closed so had to play back nine twice!
This course is challenging
Very tough to play but played in rainy weather. Fairways and greens where in great condition. I would recommend this golf course and will play it again in the future.
Nice staff , golf course needs some work
It was my first time at the Gatineau golf club. The staff is very nice and polite. I really prefer the back nine. It is nicer looking even though there is a power line that goes through a hole which I sadly hit the wire and made me miss my shot , we laughed about it.
The tee boxes need a bit of TLC. The pace of play was really slow. I still had a good time but when I saw the clubhouse , I was expecting to see a better course. The par 3's are pretty nice though.
Good value
Nice course layout. We will definitely play the course again. If you find yourself in the woods you might not find your golf ball but will exit with a fist full. The club got a beautiful clubhouse and patio. Food and service excellent at the clubhouse.
Gatineau - nice clubhouse, great staff, average course.
Ok course, still needs some work. Front nine tee boxes in bad shape. Back nine in better shape. Has intial look and feel of a high end / club links course due to new club house and very good staff, but the course quality is about the same average as a cheaper public course. Greens are huge, not an overly difficult. Actually expected a tougher layout.
Great venue!
One of the best courses in Gatineau area.
Some nice holes with water hazards.
Pack a few balls
You should probably ride and not walk due to distance between some holes. Well maintained and well balanced variety of holes.
One of the many good golf courses in Quebec.
Very nice layout, rolling land, some challenging holes.
The fairways in very good shape, greens still need time to recover after a cold winter.
Recommended by many, still a nice surprise.
Lipstick on a pig.
Some very nice new design features are the best part of the Gatineau but the greens were terrible and unplayable irrespective of the time of year. There is no drinking water on the course and a bottle of water at the tenth tee costs $2.75... that is just plain gouging.
As much as I liked the new layout, in particular the back nine par fives, the ground is relentlessly firm to the point you can barely put a tee into it on a single tee box. In this respect it was like playing the Gatineau of old and for all of the efforts to remake the course it is still like playing on bad Astroturf laid across a runway.
The staff were generally friendly and polite but the starter did not bother to ask the very noisy group behind us to be quiet on the first tee whilst we were hitting.
The new clubhouse is exceptional but I'd rather have seen the money for that go into better tee boxes, fairways and greens.
may 3 round
Course was in ok shape, greens need some work though. Also 3 groups per hole made for a 5hr round
Fast Greens, Slow Pace of Play!
Haven't had to putt on greens this quick for a long time. Very challenging as far as that goes. The rest of the course was moderate, although a touch dry for this time of the season when most courses have plush fairways.
We had a tee time just past noon, and our round took 5 1/4 hours to complete. Constantly waiting for the backlog of groups ahead of us on the front nine. The rest of the long duration is probably attributable to the lengthy distance between holes. Not a very pleasurable layout for walking--recommend renting a power cart.
To Slow!
I have played Gatineau GC a few time this summer. This course is not fast to play, and lot's of walking between holes.
This past sunday, this course played so slow, it took us 3 hrs to play the front nine, and 2.5 hrs for the back nine. Some holes in the front we were three foursome waiting to T-Off.
I understand that the club want's to make money, but this is rediculus. Knowing that the course plays slow, they should have a marshal that works the cours, not just drive around. They should also space out their foursome in an attempt to make the game more enjoyable.
I will not play there again!
Great day to spend Labour Day
A great course for most levels of players. Food is yummy and service is great.
Well maintained golf course
An enjoyable golf course. Friendly and helpful starter.
First time
As beginners, this was our first game ever and we picked the Gatineau. Staff was very friendly in explaining the basics. We chose late afternoon tee off and hoped we wouldn't feel rushed during our game. It turned out to be a quiet saturday...perfect. Too bad the Bistro closed at 8:00, we would have loved a little something to eat after. Beautiful course!!! We will definitely go back.
