Water, water, almost everywhere.

The layout utilizes the creek which meanders throughout the course. Water is a factor, to some extent, on a great majority of the holes, but it is not hidden, unlike at some courses where it awaits the unwary stranger. Greens are in great shape, as are most of the fairways. Rough is just that - rough. It can often hide the ball such that you can walk right by it, so keep a sharp eye, especially if your tee shot goes astray. Trees have suffered from numerous storms but remain a hazard lining the fairways. Accuracy is critical on a number of holes.due to the trees and creek. Some additional signage where the next tee is not obvious would be helpful for visitors.

Channeling a Muny

We booked our tee time three weeks ahead but wound up in the middle of a group of local players.
On this course the guys regularly play in fivesomes. My old school golf memory thinks groups of five players are heresy.
They did play fast enough to overcome the automatic Cart Path Only rule which is in effect all winter on this course.
The front nine is situated in a low lying area which floods regularly as large deep creeks meander between lakes.
There are lots of water hazzards on the front side that involve hidden and long carries. First time players will be surprised.
Despite the CPO, the fairways are dry. There are plenty of bare spots on these fairways. This course needs lots of maintenance and has not worn well over the years.
We were staying two holes ahead of the group behind us until we hit hole number eight. There were three groups on this par three.
#8 plays close to 200 yards into the wind to an elevated green. The red tees have a 150 yard carry over a river that was 50 feet wide and 35 feet deep.
The bent grass greens were in good shape but needed cutting.
The back nine was playing the high ground but with more long carries.
This course is more than a challenge from the forward tees.

First Time Playing

Nice track

This was my first time playing this course as I was in town for the day. The layout was great and made you make decisions off the tee. The fairways were nice. My only complaint was the greens. They were in very nice shape and rolled very true but to the players- you all need to fix your pitch marks when we walk up to a green. Each green was littered with pitch marks. This is a courtesy and is not very hard to do.
