The layout on the back nine is really nice including my favorite hole, the beautiful par-4 14th. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 10/17/2018

A good challenge
First time playing the course. Pace of play was very slow, but it was a cart path only day and many parts of the course were soaked after a rainy couple of days. Our twosome was paired with a couple other singles. Great group to play with which was nice. The course plays long and most holes are well guarded. A few greens were very challenging even for the better golfers in our group. Extremely tough pin placement on a few holes. Fairways were slow and greens quickened as the round went on which made for a tough day of scoring. Took us about 5 hours to play 9 twice. Looking forward to the back 9 opening soon to help spread things out. Tee shots don't look too intimidating as there aren't many tight fairways, but don't let that fool you as there are plenty of strategically placed fairway bunkers. Accuracy from the tee is at a premium.
I would recommend this course for the more experienced players (to avoid slowing down the pace of play) looking for a well maintained course that presents a challenge with every hole. Nice course!
Good course
Good golf course. but same nine hole play 2 times.
That`s so so.
Nice course and staff
This course is very nice. You will need to bring your best game around and on the greens. From tee to green here are challenges but again, on and around the greens is it's real test. A couple of pin placements could be considered as unfair or pretty much impossible. You will learn some tricks to play them better after a few rounds.
Jack Nicklaus!
too tough for us. we enjoyed the layout, but it was just too difficult for the senior member in our group. temporary trailer as a clubhouse was unexpected and they did not tell us they were 9 holes being played twice, but overall a good time.
Challenging and fun golf
A fair test of all aspects of your game. Watch out for the slopes of the greens and stay below the hole!
greens ridiculous
the greens had severe adulations making the course extremely frustrating.
too many very difficult pins placements for any golfer. plus playing the same nine holes twice devalued the green fees which were higher than the course deserved.
Good shape for construction and weather
Staff is great - course in good shape considering course construction of additional nine and weather this winter
Overall great course
For fall golf it was a great time at Westham. The staff was very friendly, and offered us advice on particular holes since it was our first time playing there. The course conditions were about as good as could be expected for mid November. The most challenging part of this course were the crazy greens, which I can honestly say were the most challenging I've ever had as a whole (every green was different, and each green was just an challenging at the last). Depending on how you hit off the tee there were several holes where you would have to be hitting blind over the rolling fairway. Overall The cost was worth it for the course, though the Hot Deal price is a bit higher than some of the other courses around that have a full 18 holes. Look forward to going back sometime, seeing how the course plays when it's not the "off season", and look forward to seeing the next 9 holes when they are complete. Would definitely recommend the course for a great golf experience.
Relatively new course but has good character already.
This is a relatively new course but it does have some character already. Challenging blind shots, big greens and a lot of subtle breaks and some not so subtle. All in all very good course.
challenging ruff, challenging greens
Westham is a nice 9 hole course. You must hit the fairway or risk losing your ball just inches in the ruff. The best bunkers that I have played in a long time. Tuff greens that you must be on the proper level or risk a 3 putt. Overall condition is good. Can't wait for the second nine to be completed.
Great golf course
Interesting holes to play. Great sand traps. Challenging but fair. Greens have lots of humps, be ready to read some big breaks. It's 9 holes now, and playing them twice was just as good. Played different tee boxes so the 2nd time through was still fun. This course is going to be sensational when the 2nd nine is built. All the staff was friendly and helpful. Don't hesitiate to play it just because only 9 are open.
Bethpage Black bunkers
I don't know if it was intended by the Nicklaus design team but this course looks and feels a little like Bethpage Black. If you don't play it from the correct tees you'll probably get beaten to a pulp. It's a fun ride though if you enjoy a good challenge, and the conditions and staff are well above average. I really look forward to seeing their next nine and will definitely return to play.
Great greens
The mid length tee boxes are being re-sodded. You have to play short or long. Overall course condition are very good and the greens are excellent.
This course is in great shape and is a challenge for all golfers
The weather has really paid major dividends to this course. The staff has manage the upkeep and has a true treasure for a great golf experience.
Westham is such a challenging course.
Course length and undulating greens make Westham a very challenging course.
All the right moves for a future challenging, beautiful course
You are gonna love thier greens- talk about a challenge! Starter told our threesome they buried elephants under them and they were not kidding. Excellently sculpted sand traps and elevations galore (for VA) on the fairways. In between holes cart paths are pituresque and purely Virginia. Some greens still need manicuring but over all, a pleasure to read. Keep the ball in play, any veering to the left and right of the fairway and you are pulling out an extra ball. Most fairways are rarely straight so control is a must. Staff support is superb and treats customers first class. Only 9 holes open at this time but the finished project should be incredible. Club house amenities are clearly temporary and we are looking forward to seeing the facilites once this course has reached maturity. No driving range (yet) so come ready to play.
Some of the toughest greens in golf
Course only 9 holes,,,Conditions starting to slip...
Beautiful course
I golf here every other week. 4 weeks ago I went and the course was in terrible shape. Bald spots on the greens. I was shocked. I complained and the staff mention that they had a malfunction on one of their machines and it burned the greens. They said that after some rain it will come back. We had 2 weeks of rain so I went back last week. What a difference. It's not a 100% but at least 95% of the greens were great. I'm going back next week.
