The layout on the back nine is really nice including my favorite hole, the beautiful par-4 14th. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 10/17/2018

Great condition!!!
If Magnolia green would fix their areas between the rough and the cart path this course will be perfect!
Fun but a little disappointing
GolfNow is supposed to have indications of the greens being aerated but there weren't any indications of that. Further, the fairways were well below average and the sand traps were completely unplayable! This is the worst I've ever seen this course and I hope that management will get it up and running soon because it's kind of a shame! It would be nice to have a partial refund considering how crummy the conditions were!
Course great, carts not
Great course in solid shape for winter. Greens were firm but slower than usual. Pace was fantastic, 4 hours on a Saturday.
Third round in a row that the course golf cart died. This round not only did it die but had a flat tire. 3 for 3. High end course with premium cost you would think management would rectify this quickly. Big negative on the round.
Challenging
The front is easier than the back. Back seems to have more bunkers, less flat land and just more challenging. It’s a nice track and not boring. Today was cart path only. The problem is from the cart path, because of the ridges and elevation changes it’s tough to spot your ball.
Never again on Magnolia Green
The Golf course was in excellent condition from tee to green. Staff was friendly and helpful. Both in the restaurant, shop and at the starter. The layout was poor with too many hidden holes. It was not well marked where there were bells and not. They provide a course guide. You will need it, so don't drop it! The pace was slow. We waited on every single shot. 4.45 hours in total. I was on the green ready to put having my stans when a ball from the team behind rolled on to the green. When you hit a good shot in the center of fairway you shall not be punished to find it in a sandtrap or in the ruff on one side if the fairway have a slope from side to side. The course guide do not indicate angled fairways. Sandtraps shall be of preventative nature and catch misdirected shots to increase the pace and not to slow down the play. The Architect who created the course did not have his best day! I had expected a beautiful course but it was also disappointing.
Tough course so be ready
If you enjoy a tough course, this one will be god for you. For a public course it was in good shape with the greens chewed up as golfers don't fix their pitch marks. But fairways and tee boxes were fine.
Awesome Round
Course conditions were excellent...good roll on the fairways, greens were very receptive and putted true. Challenging but fair.
Great conditions
Played here for a 3:10 Friday afternoon round for $54. This is one of my favorite courses in the RVA area. I'm a 17 handicap, so not very good, but this course is a challenge for everyone that plays and is in GREAT shape right now. Greens aren't fast/slow i would consider them medium tempo, course fairways and rough are green but dry so bounce and roll is going to happen on most holes. Highly recommend you play here and for that rate for an afternoon round - its hard to beat.
Outstanding course - what a gem!!
Everything was perfect- fairways and greens were spectacular. You won’t be disappointed
I've played in the Richmond area all my life and I can honestly say that you are dead wrong about this course. There's a reason why it was rated top 10 best new courses by Golf Digest in 2015. Whether you played in 4 hours and 27 minutes or 4 hours and 45 minutes (it's hard to tell from your comment) pace of play for Magnolia Green is 4 hours and 45 minutes. It's clearly marked in multiple places on the golf course. So you didn't play slow, you just wanted to complain because you had to wait on a group in front of you. Also, Magnolia Green is one of the few courses that actually give you a yardage card along with your scorecard. Most places charge you for a yardage book. Furthermore, if a bunker is in the middle of the fairway, don't hit it there (easier said than done). If you hit your tee shot in a bunker off the tee it isn't a good shot. Nicklaus Design (Course Designer) is known for adding fairway bunkers and undulating fairways to add a degree of difficulty to their golf courses. If you were concerned about blind shots it sounds like you had ample time to survey your upcoming shot because of all the "waiting" you had to do so there's no excuse. It sounds like you didn't have your* best day and just wanted to complain and blame it on the golf course.
