Don't blame the course
Best shape its been it over the last few years I've seen(new ownership) it's a short but tight course, don't blame the course if spray and pray is your type of tee shot. There's enough tee boxes to play from where you should be able to be accurate off the tee! Greens are small and seemed slow for how good they looked. Often has been pretty windy with no cover being right beside the airport.
Without a range finder or gps the Tee boxes are lacking appropriate signage or markers to let you know which distance you are at when they have red/white/blue etc. all stacked up on 1 box with quite a few under repair throughout. Doesn't really matter overall since the smart down the middle play is usually best unless you're an accurate long bomber.
Played here multiple times over the years from June-Oct, Bring a jacket, toque, gloves, bug spray, sunscreen and a bunch of balls and you'll have a good day.
First time, it was okay
One star, David wouldn’t give us a rain check. All jokes aside, it was good.
First time playing, so we weren’t sure which direction we were going. Not overly difficult but you know how it is playing a course the first time.
Greens weren’t in great shape and a little hard. Couple of tee boxes were just sand with not much grass. Fairways were in good shape.
I’ll play again if giving the opportunity.
Much better than last year
Greens were rough but improving from spring. Fairways were much better than last year. Looks like lots of improvements happening. Good to see the new owners care about the place
Cart path only should be communicated
Cart path only for no reason. Fairways were in fun condition and it was quite dry.
Excellent green condition
Although we have very dry May and June in Calgary, green conditions is excellent condition. There are brown spots in fairways and dandelion white flower in rough. However I can enjoy golf play for entire 18 holes as green is manicured maintained.
Getting Dry but Great Layout
The fairways have dried up considerably due to the hot, dry weather we have experienced since early May ... sadly none of the fairways look like the green picture that comes up in Golf Now ... the greens are still in great shape overall ... as the only 18 hole course on GN within Calgary city limits, i will definitely be playing there often this summer.
Great overall but Signage for walking golfers lacking
Overall I loved the ciourse which is in very good shape with consistent greens for speed. As a first-time Wingfield golfer and walking I found there were a number of places on the course where walking golfers who don’t tend to follow paved paths struggled to find the next hole, particularly where there were multiple tee boxes close to one another …
Overall I totally enjoyed the round including watching the planes landing close by on the Runway 9.
Very poor course
The tee boxes were horribly chewed up. The directional signage was missing where needed. The groundsmen made us wait till they were finished doing what they were doing, then let us play. Couldn't find anyone in the kitchen when we tried to get a 9th hole refreshment. The cost was far more than they offer, will not go again, and will talk lots about it. Ruined expierence.
Great value!
Greens are tough. Coarse s in good shape for the time of year.
Not for the average golfer.
You need to be very accurate on this course. The links style course is very unforgiving for being off centre with your driver. Can ruin your whole day hence the average rating. Greens were nice and the course is very different from your average Calgary golf course. Bring lots of golf balls.
Perfect fall course
Really enjoyed playing this course, especially with no leaves to contend with. Will definitely golf here again.
Wingfield
good course a little windy on Friday, but not cold, had a subpar round!
