Take your shirt off Pop a top and watch out for the dog Poop by far one of the most wonderful experience I’ve ever had at a golf course highly recommend
Melrose Golf Course
No putting greens, is it mostly sand. Very Short par 3 course. Friendly Staff.
Awful course
First of all they do not use tee times through golf now so you pay the reservation fee for no reason and then they only accept cash the greens are all sand no grass and the tee boxes are all messed up all in all probably one of the worst golf course I have ever been to or seen
Use only as driving range
Course is in poor condition with greens like a desert
Do not book this course!!
I repeat....DO NOT BOOK THIS COURSE! They do not have tee times. So you will pay for the convenience fee and then still pay full price, which is $10-$12. The greens are not maintained. The man at the desk said the water pump has been broken for over 4 years now. The greens are not green, most are sand. The ones that do have grass have very little and most is only weeds. TRASH EVERYWHERE!
Poorly maintained
If you want to practice distance on your irons and NO putting the course is ok. Greens are sand at best. Rest of course is cut short but weeds and crabgrass
Great Value
This course was a great value and a fun challenge to help me work on my irons. Some notes, the course is in bad condition no doubt due to the cold temperature. The staff are nice however I didn't see many so I assume they lack maintenance people which explains the plethora of beer cans and trash around tee boxes. Most the green were sandy or riddled with leaves and fallen branches.
Despite all this I had a fine time and enjoyed my value par 3 course
Short game Practice
good place to practice iron play (shouldn't need a club past 9-iron). Greens are not established for putting game. A good walk and push carts available. Pitching wedge, approach wedge, & lob wedge should be all you need.
Good for beginners not looking to spend a lot of money
My three teenage sons had a ball. I would recommend it to a real golfer though. it was a great place for me to teach them and spend quality father son time. Staff was very friendly.
Well, you get what you pay for
This course is great for irons and wedges, but the greens are bunkers pretty much. Its no wonder that its so cheap thats for sure
This Golf Course Is Pathetic
The first and most important thing everyone should know is this isn't truly a legitimate golf course. This "course" felt like someone's farm that was poorly turned into a driving range and small par-3 course. There are no golf carts to drive at this course and only about 6 push carts existed, so if you like walking and carrying your bag, this place is for you. The biggest problem with Melrose is the conditions of the course, especially the greens. On pretty much every golf course in the world the greens are nicely cut and maintained to allow for a nice putt, but at this course the greens are sand pits. That's no exaggeration, I'll attach a video below so you can see for yourself. Never before have I played on a course where the greens are full of sand, weeds, and random patches of grass; we were baffled that all of the holes were in poor condition. Not only were the greens poorly maintained, but so were the tee boxes and fairways.
The owner has several dogs that he clearly lets run around the course because there was dog poop in several spots along the course. Imagine your ball long in that? Or you step in that with your cleats? Absolutely disgusting. Throughout the course it looks like there used to be some water hazards but they're now drained and have become mud pits that are filled with bugs, dead animals, and an awful stench, especially the one at hole 17. The garbage cans throughout the course are filled to the top with beer cans and the trash definitely hasn't been taken out in weeks. Overall, the entire course is horribly maintained and the owner should be embarrassed to take people's money.
Another thing that should be noted is that this place doesn't accept credit cards, only cash, which seems a little skeptical but I'm also not surprised. For $10 a person I didn't lose sleep over this place but it needs to be vastly improved. It's a joke of a golf course and I wouldn't recommend it unless you and your buddies are drunk and looking for an open space to hit some golf balls.
