One of the best in Kentucky
If you dont love playing Gibson Bay, you dont love golf.
challanging rolling terrain
Good shape considering Spring season, nice greens.
Several holes have challenging elevation . Would play again.
Excellent Challenge from the Tips
My buddy and I are long hitters so we decided to play form the back tees. A couple of the par 5s and par 4s are really long. It didn't help that the winds were gusting at 30 MPH (almost always in our face). But, the fairways are relatively wide and incredibly smooth. The greens are very fast and offer plenty of undulations. The course is a real challenge with good play being rewarded. I'll definitely be going back.
Extremely slow play
I've played this course several times. I played Tues. afternoon on a great Golfnow hot deal. From the very 1st hole, a 10 to 15 wait was the norm. The twosome ahead of me didn't want to join play together, nor did the threesome behind me. There was a twosome ahead of the twosome in front of me, and a threesome ahead of them. It wasn't unusual to have all three groups waiting on the same tee box. A marshal was surely needed. Yet I don't believe the golf staff cared. I will be back, but not in the afternoon. I finally quit after a 3 hour, and a 10 hole afternoon.
spring conditions
greens were firm rolling around 9 , they won't punch the greens until fall, so you are good to go. Rough was thick and growing. This course is normally pretty busy, but not this day, I played in 2:40 and didn't see anybody on the back 9
I LOVE PLAYING GIBSON BAY. I CONSIDER THIS MY "HOME" COURSE. PAR 3 & DRIVING RANGE IS CONVENIENT FOR PRACTICE
Course in great condition fo feb. played in less than 4 hrs. Not bad for a foursome .
This course is always in very good condition
Every time I play here the condition of the course is very good. Pace of play can be slow at times, but the course is definitely worth playing. Very challenging.
Great Experience
This is a Great course with scenic views and lots of elevation changes. I had heard the state high school championships were played here, so I wanted to stop in. The wind was blowing 20+ mph, but the course was still a lot of fun. The pace of play was great and I really enjoyed how several groups let me play through as a single. I am very happy to have played this course today and would reccommend it as a must play in the Richmond area.
Nice, challenging layout
Very good course design, greens rolled true, fairways were in good shape, rest of the course was a bit neglected. Could have been the result of a tough year weather-wise or year end staffing.
Gibson Bay
Fantastic course, unbelievable for the money, if this course was in myrtle beach it would be over $100. Tough but fair.
Do-over
The course was in excellent shape. From Tee to green, everything was green and well manicured. I was told that the course had just come back in the last 2 weeks. I will definitely play it again
No problems
Course is always in great shape
Gibson Bay
Fairways were great, greens recovering from aeration 3-4 days prior. Rough is deep and shaggy to sparse, inconsistent. A ranger enforcing pace of play would be a welcome addition but all in all, a pleasant and memorable fall round.
worth the trip
nice course, but it needs a bit of tender loving care
Challenging but forgiving
This course was beautifully laid out with some long par 5s. The fairways were easy to hit though with plenty of room on either side for error. Loved my round!
Generally fine
This is always a pretty course, and well-maintained. The rough is rough. The greens were okay, not great but pretty good for this time of year. They keep the fairways in good shape. The course is often forgiving, but I still managed to hit out of bounds three times. Sheesh.
