Appalling Pace
Have been looking for a course to take out corporate membership and having played this course before really believed it was the ideal location. The course is great, good condition, great vistas and has its challenges. Currently being modified which is fine and does not impact the round too much.
The down side. We never completed the round! Groups of stags, the drunk loud type, not the antlered type, in front with no understanding of the etiquette of golf, and I am no snob! Dressed in jeans, tracksuits and trainers, stopping to talk to groups in front of them, stopping to drink alcohol mid hole, and were quite clearly unable to play. Pace of play was not acceptable, we ended up leaving after 8 holes, around 3 hours as we were never going to complete the round. Not ideal if you are hosting clients. Played with my son and two son in laws, two of which said they would not play the course again. Really disappointing as the first time I played the courseI raved about it and could not wait to play again.
Need to ensure that group bookings at least have an understanding and awareness of the etiquette of golf and strike a balance between the need to create revenue and providing a great experience.
Disappointing as the course is great!
Overall good
Rated as above
Slow play from the 6th tee onwards, no offer the play through.
Disappointing
4.5 hours to play a short course is very poor. At one point there were 17 golfers playing a par 3 and a short par 4
So Slow...5hrs
First of all, this course is in great condition. Excellent on the eye and clearly well maintained.
I started with 2 clear holes and by the 3rd tee there were 3 groups waiting. The layout lends to bottlenecks which were not helped by single golfers (such as myself) holding up play.
Overall, the course management needs looked at and perhaps a starter would be a good addition.
I have serious reservations about playing this course again as 5hrs and a lot of standing around just isn't fun.
Good way to spend the day
Great course good layout, greens very good and receptive bit of walking between some tee's.overall great for a game of golf and would recommend and would play again.
Frustrating
The course is very challenging with a lot of blind holes which if well kept would be playable but with the recent hot weather every fairway is like concrete, very hilly course would recommend a buggy if you don’t fancy being out of breath before every shot
Not great
First part of this course is brilliant and the rest of the front 9 is still good. Back 9 Has all sorts of construction going on, which for me isn’t an issue but for some may be.
The pace of play was awful. Queueing from the first hole onwards. Never had such a slow round and many parties were giving up leaving half way through the back 9, which you wouldn’t expect on a course of this standard and price range.
Hot day
We played during the ongoing heatwave so the fairways were very dry and hard - as they are everywhere at the moment. The greens were good. Pro shop staff and starter helpful and friendly.
Disappointing Experience
A tricky short course with a lot of Par3's - layout squeezed into area available, very hilly, buggies recommended which adds considerably to the cost. Overall course has a lot of development going on making it untidy and unloved. Poor irrigation greens starting to disappear and impossible to hold the ball with any club. Would suggest waiting until current work complete and course matures before playing.
Slow!
Huge excavations around holes 9/10 which slowed everything down. There should be a mechanism to pre warn golfers about this before they book. At no time we’re we told about this, not even in the pro shop when we checked in
Slow slow slow
5.5 hours for a round of golf.
Fairways were shocking
10 minute wait on each tee is no good.
Short course but a real challenge
Played this course several times now and on both occasions the weather was hot and sunny, the course plays short but don't be fooled into thinking it's an easy knock, far from it, the layout and undulations of nearly all the fairways make it a challenge in it's self, and the greens are firm, pacey and undulating, lots of up and downhill holes, reachable par five's in two but watch out for the strategically placed lakes especially on the last.
If your 50 years plus
Very good course some testing holes, but uphill and down dale, greens were hard to read a bit slow. You need a buggy. Having said that I will play it again. Very enjoyable
Been a While
Enjoyed going back, fairways in great condition, greens a little “fluffy” but had a great day. Borrowed a driver from the pro shop as looking to change mine which I thought was a great help as not quite the same practicing with a new club on a range/bay.
Lots of heavy machinery and groundwork’s going on so plenty of investment going on which is good to see. Would recommend a visit if you’ve not tried it before … not long, but definitely a thinking man’s course and you need to manage your game to score well
Exiting course 45mph winds!
Really enjoy playing here, except it felt like I was playing on a building site, and this has lasted for years!! It will be brilliant one day!!
