Course in great condition
One of those days when you’re glad to be a golfer. Weather was cool to start with then went warmer towards lunchtime. The course was in near perfect condition, fairways and greens picture perfect, just a single golfer in front, nobody chasing, millionaires golf. Very highly recommended.
Great Course
Fantastic course - beautiful fairways and lovely greens.
Bad time to play
Played this course today with a friend. 4.5hr round due to the elderly 4balls refusing to let anyone through. The course was good some nice little holes however the greens were not of the same standard. Lots of unrepaired pitch marks and spike marks etc. Wouldn't play here again.
One of the best around manchester
Great course has something for everyone low medium or high handicap well kept with very tricky greens lots of up and down but not a hard slog we will definitely be going back
Lovely course
Having been a member at other local courses (Stamford and Saddleworth) which have now lapsed as I don't have the time to play as often as I would like (especially at weekends) I find the tee off times route the most cost effective way of playing these days and Ashton for me is by far the best of the local courses) the greens are very well kept there is a nice mix of par 3 4 and 5 with some challenging holes which can wreck your card if you are not careful. We play other courses but always come back to Ashton more often than any other
Great course
A good range of holes with different yardage,so you use most clubs in the bag.The best holes in my opinion is 4th,10th & 18th which are all par 3's .The toughest part of course is 8,9,10 & 11,if you get through them unscathed you have done well. After the round there is a nice balcony in the clubhouse overlooking the 18th.
Great course friendly people.
Great Course, Superb Greens
Lovely course that opens with some fairly long hole but the shorter holes are well designed and challenging. Greens were fantastic and the closing Par 3 is the perfect end to a lovely golf course.
Undulating Fairways - Slow Greens
Very impressed with the course layout.
It isnt very long, the first par 5 green can be reached in two with an accurate drive.
Overall, the course is in fantastic condition, the greens were playing quite slow. Sand had been put down in an effort to soak up the moisture from the torrential rain a couple of days before.
Finished +15
Good Course
Played first time and has some challenging Holes and Greens. Friendly Pro Shop Staff. Would happily play again.
Decent Parkland Course
Very enjoyable round. The fairways were nice and wide and the rough not too punishing. The greens were in reasonable condition. It was a course that a relative novice wouldn't find too daunting but plenty to keep you interested.
A slightly gripe would be the Tees weren't in great shape and around some of the bunkers was similar. The pro in the shop was super friendly and accommodating. A quick drink on a lovely balcony overlooking the 18th green was enjoyable and the bar staff nd other members were pleasant.
Nice apart from one or two members
Booked the round on TeeOffTimes (paid in full) and as it was a 7am tee off we called to ask the pro to leave a card outside the night before in case the shop wasn't open, only to be told we aren't allowed to play on a Saturday morning as there was a comp on. Eventually we were cleared to play by the Secretary. There obviously needs to be more communication between the club and TeeOffTimes!
Visitors playing the course before a comp obviously wasn't to some members liking as members of the group behind us wouldn't even acknowledge us as we passed on the course and said good morning. We were informed after the round that there would be some complaints to the Club Secretary. We keep hearing about clubs struggling and wanting more members so you would think any income would be gratefully received.
On course was enjoyable although the greens were bumpy which was disappointing considering the club website said the greens were the envy of clubs in the area. That said the greens didn't stop my brother achieving a hole in one on the 16th, which as expected we celebrated exuberantly which probably upset the members in the group behind us even more!
All in all a nice course and an enjoyable day made better by the hole in one but I won't be playing here again for obvious reasons.
Need to give it a go in summer
I think we need to play this track in summer we were very disappointed to many winter greens , and not the clubs fault very boggy underfoot. Maybe we missed something but we both found the layout boring , like I said I think we need to give this course another go in better weather conditions . The Pro was excellent very friendly and helpful and his shop is well stocked,, dependent on price I would not pay more than £20 in the summer to play here.
Friendly
Course wet. But very much playable. Staff and members very friendly and helpful. 1 little niggle playing of matts. This needs to be notified to guests before booking. Looking forward to playing there again when dry
Course for all abilities
Lovely course for all abilities. Good use of natural contours of the land. Good condition but a little boggy in places. All the holes offer the chance of good scoring but approaches have to be precise as the greens are small, undulating and well guarded. The course is well maintained however drainage is an obvious problem and a couple of holes are somewhat bogey in certain areas. Overall a good day out.
Very Warm Welcome
Everyone was very friendly at Ashton. The was in good condition despite heavy rain overnight. The greens putted well. There were several challenging holes and the course designer had made full use of the landscape.
