Overall Standard

Played the Astbury in difficult rain conditions but the course was superb given the constant weather barrage of late. It is both beautiful but brutal at times, a proper golf test. The greens are truly amazing, immaculate condition & pro standard easily. So good we playing the course again at the weekend.

Slow slow slow

The course was in decent condition given the amount of rain we have had over the winter, especially the greens , sand in bunkers is excellent and not a puddle in sight, however the pace of play was very very slow and where as a four ball we would usually take around 4 and a quarter hours, the round took almost 5 and a half, we teed off 5 minutes after our booked tee time and we waited approximately 3 to 5 minutes on every single hole , it was a good job the sun was shining or we would have probably walked off, to be fair the cost of the round was only £20 but perhaps this is why it was so painfully slow, everyone and his dog must have booked

Wet weather
Walked

The Astbury

Course was very wet, which was to be expected after all the rainfall we had, Surprisingly the bunkers were still fluffy and playable except one or two which were flooded. The greens on the front 9 were immaculate. Rolling very pure and true. Back 9 greens were okay but signs of recent work were obvious. Overall a great course which i will be returning too.

Great course

The course is great with good greens however like most courses this time of year its holding the water quiet badly.. it probably should of been shut but they've done remarkable to keep it going this long...one of few still open..

Would like to play in the summer

Really decent bloke in the club shop, excellent welcome and lovely clubhouse!

Tee boxes and greens were excellent but the rest of the course was a sludgy mess. It wasn’t to be unexpected given the amount of rain we have had during March and April but the green fee felt too high given the state of the fairways and surrounding surfaces. The course itself is a bit undefined and is quite open so big hitters will find it easy I’d have thought. There wasn’t any real standout holes that left a mark on me. The 18th would be an intimidating end to some given the carry over water. We had literally zero run on the fairways but the course didn’t feel long.

Would be interested to play again in the summer. I’d personally advise people to not play it yet for a few more weeks after a prolonged dry period!

Great Venue, will be back

First time at the Astbury and an absolute gem. Being winter the course is currently very wet in places but fantastic to play. Can't wait to play in the spring/summer. Would highly recommend to any golfer. Pace of play wasn't great for us due to a 3 ball in front who seemed to be having a mare more than anything to do with the course. Staff very friendly and halfway house is good.

Amazing front nine, greens and fairways immaculate. Had to leave after 9th hole as the rain got horrendous. Will definitely be going back.

First time at The Astbury

Really enjoyed the round, course a bit more open than I'm used to. I would imagine this is a great track in the summer. The fairways were very wet but not excessively muddy and the greens were very good. Played off the alloted tees, this would be a test for even the better golfer off the backs. Played as a 3 ball and really enjoyed it. £17 for 3 pints after wad a bit excessive I thought
Beware the Golf Now app clearly says it does not take your card payment until you get there, and you can use an alternative method in the pro shop. This is not the case, please amend your app

Everything is perfect

We have played The Astbury four times now, early winter, early spring and now twice in this great weather.. Beautifully manicured, challenging at times, and wonderful scenery. Always a great welcome and chat in the pro shop, all staff and management in particular take time to talk. I could sit on the terrace watching folk tee off the 10th and come in to the amazing par 3 18th all afternoon. Love it.
