Demanding but worthwhile
Being new to golf, I wanted to test my (limited) ability on a challenging course and Baildon definitely fits the bill! Notwithstanding the extremely wet weather recently I was impressed with how well the course played. There are patches of muddy areas, but on the whole the greenkeepers have done a superb job. The Greens were in great condition (too fast for me)!
It was a rather blustery day with the isolated hail shower, if that is the norm for here then it makes the course even more challenging and interesting. I liked the good fairway proportions as I am tending to slice my drives. However, if you don't hit the fairway then you're most likely to end up in unplayable heather. Thoroughly enjoyed my first round here and look forward to another, hopefully in slightly less windy conditions.
Without a doubt great value for money.
Challenging
To be fair, the course was too wet underfoot., but what should I expect at this time of year and the rain we have had lately . The paths were muddy. Fairways in places were damaged by Green keepers equipment ( tractor tyre indentations )
I have played this course in the summer, it is challenging not for the faint hearted, imperative you stay on the fairways , the rough is unplayable. Great scenic views and good value.
Baildon 👌🏻
What an absolute gem!!
Played here Thursday 11th of January, cold misty and some drizzle just added to the whole experience. Course was in fantastic condition given recent weather, some wet areas but no plugged balls on the fairway which is always a bonus this time of year. Greens were in very good condition good speed and firm. Only one temp green on the day of play which was the 4th.
It may not be the longest course ever but once the breeze gets up Baildon does show its teeth, hitting a pw from 75 yards into breeze hasn’t don’t my ego any favours but what a great day even if it was a little grey on the day.
I’d imagine playing this in summer would be a totally different experience and I will certainly be make the effort to get back here once the summer arrives
Fantastic
Really good challenging course with a variety of holes, in very good condition considering how much it has rained lately, the greens were brilliant. Obviously some places on the course were saturated but still playable, the 1st,9th and 18th were the wettest by far but with the weather I was really impressed with how playable it was. In the warmer months I bet it’s one of the best courses in the North and I’m sure we’ll be back.
Baildon Golf Club
Great course and a tough test. Course was in good condition and fully open considering all the bad weather recently. Friendly staff and a great place for a drink and a meal. Some great golf offers on and would recommend a visit.
Hidden gem
This course is fantastic. Brilliant value for money with amazing views
The key is due to it being in these scenic hills it remains dry. Fast great quality greens. Don’t think you will find any courses in better condition right now unless you head to a links course on the coast
Quirky but excellent
Overall excellent. Seems like a good winter course, greens very firm for this time of year. Worth a drive out if you are in need of a round. Only thing I could say is I couldn’t find any practice facilities / net to warm up. Other than that it’s great.
Windy but wonderful
Upon arrival club house provided delicious sausage sandwich and served by very friendly staff! Lovely little club house, great selection of beers and golf on the tv. Nice mix of the traditional and the modern. Course itself was wild and spectacular, fantastic views, interesting holes, greens in great nick! Loved it, will hopefully play it again.
What a course and club
Friendly welcome, played course after lots of rain during the week and the course held up to it well. We played in the middle of a club competition and could not have been made to feel more comfortable.
The course is a really good and fair test of golf, and favours an accurate tee shot.
We had a great day at Baildon and would recommend to anyone.
Great course
Good course in great condition considering the rain we had
Great local moorland course - challenging and great value
Course not busy although slow due to players in front.
Real challenge on front 9 with a strong wind (course if high up so wind a major factor)
Greens in great condition - tees average, rest of course well maintained.
This is the best value for money course in the areas (£18 for 18 holes on a Friday with lots of tee availability)
Will definitely play again , but watch out for the wind
Hot n sticky
Hot and sticky day but the course was empty. Great value at £18pp. Quite hilly and challenging with deep rough just off the fairway. Greens need some tlc I think. Paths around the course uneven.
Great and challenging course
I like this course, it is challenging and requires a certain level of fitness but well worth it. Terrific views in surrounding countryside.
Short but tricky
Baildon Golf Course occupies a stunning setting in West Yorkshire with beautiful views from an elevated position.
This course requires respect as any deviation from the fairways is treacherous. The elements and rough are it’s defence. A par of 70 and just over 6000 yards (doesn’t feel short due to the wind and up a and downs).
Very Enjoyable
Love this course, the views are amazing, the greens and fairways were spot on, the staff very helpful and all at a great price.
A superb challenge
First time playing and it won’t be the last! Friendly staff, friendly members, well maintained course and superb views. Nothing to fault it.
Members advised that with wind blowing about 15mph from the East it should be classed as a calm day. It was steady with not much in way of gusting and did not detract from enjoyment or the number of balls I managed to lose.
Highly recommended.
Surprisingly good
Unpretentious, relaxed and surprisingly good course, and good value with it. Interesting holes and well maintained. The only issue is the high number of dog walkers and other out for a stroll, wandering around the course without much concern that they're on a golf course. Mainly a issue after work time. Overall a good round here 👍
