Needs a little more work

Beacon park is set in lovely surroundings with some gorgeous views. The course itself has some great holes and the layout is well thought out. However as in a lot of the cases more money and work is needed on the greens/tees and the course generally. To be fair I have played on a lot worse courses and for £20 for a full 18 holes I suppose was value for money. Off the course the bar and cafe has seen better and busier times and the bar now doubles up for the pro shop which has long gone leaving behind a rather large empty room.

Great course

Great course, played a number of times, generally greens in good condition, however very long on this particular visit which made then slow and uneven. Hopefully just a one off.

A tight course with tricky sloping fairways

On arrival we discovered that I had forgotten the battery from my wife's electric trolley. We therefore decided to hire a buggy, which turned out to be a good choice. The course is quite hilly and the weather was very warm, which made the going quite tough.
The first green wasn't in the best of condition, but after the first hole the course condition improved and the tee shots became tighter.
All in all, a good course for an impromptu round of holiday golf.

Hilly and challenging

As we walked in the golf pro talked us around the course and said he was going to try and get the course layout onto the scorecards soon. Really does need it because it was a bit confusing on some holes. Couple of holes we were driving blind and since we never played the course before, we had no real idea where to aim. Greens were a bit bare and some fairways were in need of cutting but others were excellent. Course was really challenging and enjoyable tho and will be back hopefully with greens and fairways in a bit better condition

Excellent value for money!

Good course with greens in excellent condition. Members very friendly and helpful.
As a first time visitor would appreciate course layout on back of the card or more signage around to course to direct you to the next tees
Excellent value for money.

pleasantly surprised

It's a few years since I last played Beacon and I've got to say I was more than impressed! Course condition was superb, especially the greens which were fast but tricky! Shame my golf didn't match the weather and the course! Lost a few balls in the punishing rough - stray off the short stuff and you can forget finding your ball, although I lost one in the middle of the fairway on the 10th after a perfect drive!! Will definitely play again - great value for £13.

Great condition

This course was in superb condition and the best I have played this year. Greens were true and fast, presenting a tough challenge for the average golfer (me included). Excellent value and a very enjoyable round in the sunshine.

Excellent Course - Super Value

An absolute hidden gem in an area abound with exclusive and somewhat overpriced golf courses. The maintenance of the course was on par with many private members courses nearby; if not superior - a spectacular feat for a municipal club. Challenging holes, unbelievable views from the higher holes over the whole of Merseyside and West Lancashire. For the price, you really must give it a round.

Only negative would be there is no map of the course on the scorecard; and the tees are not wonderfully marked. Minor detractions though.

Rewarding and Demanding

My first time playing this course and I have to say I was very impressed. A great layout with every hole having it's own challenge. Demanding and very rewarding all at the same time. Spectacular views that are worth taking a moment to enjoy. It was very muddy conditions but I'm not surprised after all the recent bad weather. Can't wait to return in the spring and summer. A great round.
