Drop in standard

Used to play this course about 15 year ago and it was always a pleasure to play.
The fairways were not cut the first cut was un kept the greens although some where in good condition most had unrepaired pitch marks, the tee boxes take a bit to be desired and there was no directions, on the 8th tee we followed a four ball who went up the 14th, luckily for us the group on the 14th advised us the right way.
A shame a very nice course seems to have gone down hill

Very Poor- don’t bother unless you are a 40 handicap

I was not warned by Teeofftimes times or the course when I spoke to them days before the play day.. The greens were very very poor condition, bobbly 1/2 long grass and looked diseased.. fairways were like semi and average needed a cut, but guess recent consistent rain may be why not prepared.. the semi was like the rough .. and the greens like the fairway and winter greens... I would avoid .. Sorry Calverly GC but it is shocking.. your membership must be very disappointed
Spoke to few members and they intimated that if they had not paid year fee in full and were paying monthly they would quit today..

Hi sorry to hear your game at Calverley wasn’t what you expected.
We have invested a lot of money in the greens and we have now got them back.
We hit the bottom and we had difficult times.
I wish to offer you a free game to see if we have improved since your last game?
Please email me on paulbrown123@yahoo.co.uk to arrange this.
Many thanks
Paul

winter greens

all greens are closed with winter greens on 16 holes and 2 terrible greens over the road. there is obviously a problem meaning the course committee took the difficult decision to close, i just wish i had known this from golfnow before i traveled 2 hours to get there and no mention from the pro shop either when reporting for our tee time. i wish them the best of luck on their journey and hope they can retrieve the greens to their former glory. unfortunately it looks like it will take 3 years to get there so best avoiding for now.

Course condition has got worse

Holes 16, 17 and 18 were so poorly maintained and kept. Their condition were so poor one could argue that no should be allowed to play them until they are made good.

Holes 1 to 15 are a good challenge. On the Par 4’s and 5’s keep ball on fairways as the rough is long and finding your ball can be difficult.

Condition of Greens are not the best - full of brown patches. The Greens need to be relaid.

Calverley

Played here a few times in the past two years, a good layout of holes where you have to drive the ball well. Greens were in good condition, and the course is good value for money, I would definitely play again.

Goog challenging course

Have played here once or twice before. Nice layout with some challenging holes.
Only disappointment was the substantial amount of cut grass left on both fairways and 1st cut areas.
Possibly green-keeping staff might not have had chance to clear the areas following heavy-ish rainfall earlier in week.
A fair price for the course though and an enjoyable round.

Visiting 4ball - great value for money

Cracking little course with several very interesting holes & excellent value for money. Rough was very demanding, especially as it was quite damp under foot, well penalised for not hitting straight shots. Excellent par 3 hole in to a former quarry. Clubhouse closed on Mondays so could not enjoy the bar facilities afterwards.

Oh dear

It was a cheap tee time an the course lived up to the cheap green fee, the tee boxes looked like they hadn't been looked after for weeks, the fairways looked like a playing field an the greens had been scored but not dressed, there is some good looking holes but it just gets let down with the state of the tee boxes, it's a shame as I played here about 4 years ago an really thought it was a good course,

Good Course

Played first time and has some challenging holes and Greens. Watch out for a Par 5 with a 90 degree bend in the Fairway!!

Only downsides I would say is you have to cross the same major road twice. Golf Club to the 1st Tee!! and back again when playing the 17th.

On the day, appeared to be a Wedding Reception in the Golf House next to the 18th Green and the 'Parents' let their kids run around the 18th Green!!

This course was great value

The course was very good helped by some great weather. It was in good condition, well maintained although the greens still needed some work to bring them to top class condition. The staff were very welcoming, friendly yet professional. All in all a very enjoyable day which must be repeated
