Excellent Course
Very nice course and value for money. Challenging and very well kept greens and the lay our is great. Amazing view points from some of the holes too.
Staff were great and food was good too.
Great to see a fair few youngsters practising before their rounds also.
We'll be playing here again for sure
Lovely Course and Views
First time on this course. Lovely setting on the border of the peak district. Nice welcome from pro in shop upon arrival. Greens superb, fairways in good nick, great views. Not many places to lose your ball as most fairways wide. 3rd hole tee a bit confusing as you go back on yourself but overall a great 4 hours spent in late summer sunshine. Bonus was half way house on the 9th green, only negative no Bacon Butties!!!
Great Views and time to take them in
Played in a bank holiday. Not a great idea. far to many people on the course. took 4hr25min to play and we kept up to the 2ball in front.
Too many cross tee holes to get a steady flow.
Half way house was open for a much needed beer
Just awful
I'd like to be writing a positive review of what looked like a good course, based on other reviews, however, one simple issue has absolutely ruined an afternoon on the course for me, and a day's leave to boot. I have no issue with a course needing to maintain the grounds, for future play, in fact its an admirable thing to do, but failing to notify players, especially visitors, that every single green has been hollow tined, leaving tiny winter greens, cut halfway up fairways, at the start of August is woefully disappointing. Nothing was listed on their website, even on the course status, not a word mentioned by the pro on arrival, no signs around the course, and only finding out halfway up the first, even after asking the pro for a course guide (which they don't do), and further friendly chat about some shot selections for blind tees. Add to this that a two ball ahead of me tee'd off, hit useless shots (haven't we all) but then returned to the tee when they couldnt find them, waited for a downpour before teeing off again 5 minutes after my tee time, and then played incredibly slowly, and just shrugged it off that they were without offering to let me through, after hitting it 15 yards off the 3rd tee and that's it, I walked off after 'two holes'!!! Interestingly, walking down the 18th, back to the car park, offered a view of a tee bed set some 75 yards away from a winter green, on a 476 yard par 5!! Honestly, what is the point? Little would anyone know it, but it took me nearly 2 hours to drive here, en route to Sheffield, and has basically wasted an entire day, simply because someome was too lazy to update the course status properly!!!Had I known I would have picked somwhere else and saved Disley for another day. Safe to say though, that this will be my only ever experience of Disley, which was just dismal. Check before you play people as they won't be bothering to communicate anything to you, even when you're stood in front of them.
Haha. Even better, I just went to take a screenshot of the course status, which I checked before booking, then after my attempted play; where it had stated issues around COVID, it now says 'world handicap system', as below, meaning that even on the day the course is playing full winter greens, in the middle of Summer, they've updated the status part way through the day but couldn't be bothered to give an actual status about the course. Utterly useless, and a complete waste of time.
Very enjoyable round
The course layout is in places a little manic with cross overs and same tee locations. But it didn’t affect my day at all - everyone was very friendly and because it was busy - I never got confused as I simply followed the group in front.
The greens were a particular highlight- very consistent- fast and challenging. A 50 ft putt on the last made these greens memorable for me.
I played as a single golfer - and left feeling very happy with the experience. I didn’t test the off course facilities as it was a slow round and I had to shoot off.
Great day out
Although busy the tee time schedule meant there was a good pace of play. Fairways and greens are excellent. Only gripe is a couple of faiorways cross each other
A beautiful course
A beautiful course in the foothills of the peak district, just 25 minutes from the M56 Manchester Airport junction.
Has its quirks, but love it!
Disley is a beautiful course on the edge of the Peak District. Very good condition, greens excellent, couple of tees were a bit chopped up, but otherwise great.
There are a few oddities in the layout. 3rd tee is behind you as you finish the 2nd hole, easy to go to the wrong hole if you're new to the course. A couple of tees criss-cross, which is OK if the course is quiet, also the yellows for the 16th are directly behind the 15th green.
The blind par 3 13th is a tough one to judge for 1st timers, as is the massive unseen ditch on the 14th.
It's a bit of an odd one, but I love it.
Very good course.
Very nice course, fairways good, greens excellent, great views, well stocked pro's shop, half way house was excellent.
Definitely recommend.
Great to be golfing again
Disley is the second course I've played since we have been allowed to play in and it was great thoroughly enjoyable.
Fantastic views from immaculate course
Played on a gorgeous but busy Friday afternoon. A society in front of us meant we waited a bit but still took less than 4 hours.
Course was in perfect condition, fairways well cut, greens fast. Layout is interesting and whilst hilly, the terrain adds to the variety. If you struggle walking you will need a buggy. Holes keep you guessing with a few blind tee shots (all with markers) and elevation changes to the green. It’s not narrow by any means, so you shouldn’t lose many balls, but there are a few holes where you need to know where to land the tee shot or your second is just getting back to position.
Would highly recommend this, played last few holes with a couple of members who were friendly, welcoming and encouraging despite being considerably better golfers.
No game
Unfortunately having driven from Sheffield we were told we were unable to play as there was a club completion scheduled and we shouldn't have been able to book.
The rating is purely on this disappointing visit as we have played 4 or 5 times before and typically find the course and off course set-up a pleasure
