Back 9 holes so close its dangerous
I contacted the club Pro on the Saturday as the weather had been horrendous for days he informed me that the course is always open as it's moorland but you have to use matts off the fairway directors orders or take your shot from the rough. The forecast was better for the Sunday so we decided to make the 45min journey across from Liverpool. On arrival I booked into the pro shop and the same guy told me again about playing off matts on the fairway but this time we had to buy the matts but there was no mention of that when I called him. I queried this and his response was management policy I was appalled to say the least having to buy matts due to there issue.
Anyway got out the course and it was in good nick for the time of year and the layout was really nice it was a pain having to move your ball into the rough every time. The only issue was coming to the 7th the play got really slow having to wait for a 2 ball which seemed odd. Got to the 9th and it had taken just over 2hrs to play 8 which is a little slow, it then took us 2 1/2 hours to play 10-15 and the reason was the holes were dangerously close together from the 10th green until the 15th tee, so much so that the 11th and 12th green where yards away from the tee boxes for the next hole. The tee box for the 15th hole u actually hit over the 14th green with your drive. We decided 2 call it a day when we got to the 16th tee and there was two groups waiting on the tee which was a shame that the back 9 was so slow or it probably would have been an enjoyable round.
Course Great, more than can be said about the staff.
Booked online for 2 golfers sunday morning 9.40 tee time. we, arrived at the club and was told that we are now in a 4 ball, I said to the man in the pro shop that we had booked for 2 as we are from the same house and due to the covid 19 just wanted a game with us 2 and not some randoms who we dont know, his reply was "well your playing golf and not going to be hugging them are you?" I then asked do you have a toilet and he said yes but they are locked, which was really helpfull.
Are tee off time was 9.40 he then came out of the pro shop at 9.30 and said just the 2 of us could tee of if we wanted too and i thanked him and asked for a score card and he said we dont have any, we have run out, i shook my head and his reply was "Ive let you go out early what more do you want? ive let you go out early and all you have done is complain keep your score in your head or write it down on a bit of paper" this is NOT what I want to hear as a visitor to a golf club a score card would of been nice, (he did manage to find me one) other than the Idiot in the pro shop course was good and and well maintained and pace of play was ok held up on two holes but corse was busy and this was to be expected. over all good course, nice greens, just a shame about the welcome.
I would return and Play again but hope the nasty man is not in the pro shop again, this is no way to speak to visitors to the club.
Great track , recommended
First time at dunscar ,partnered with 3 lads from Wigan who were friendly and great company. Enjoyed the day ,course was super with excellent greens
Lovely Course - well worth a visit.
A great course in really good condition – with some really good views. The green are in great condition – not overly difficult, saying that there are some very some challenging holes. Staff were very friendly and welcoming – well worth a visit.
Stunning
This was are first time on this course and I must say we got a hot deal on golf now for £11 each tee off time was 07.50 we got there early so we where first out the course is stunning what a little gem this was to find We be going again would have paid £25-£30 all day long
Great Views
Overall great course. Fantastic views. Chose a good day. Only negative was the greens. Very very slow due to the sand dressing
Great course
Could do with a few extra bells. On the blind uphill hole but a great course
Look out for incoming balls. On the shared fairway
Course is great an challenging.
But we booked for a 7:50 start, on arrival no one available at pro shop,so could get score card and no information on work being done on course.
Every green was heavily sanded. Which put a damper on the round.
We understand this needs to be done, but if told in advance we dont think we would have played
Great value for the price £10.00
Great golf course & tests your level of golf shots.
Considering the rain hadn't let up for 17hrs prior ( after all this is the northwest), the course was surprisingly well drained & only a couple of the greens had standing water.
Unfortunately no one was present to greet us, so no score card, but the course is easy to navigate.
Will definitely be playing this course again,
Amazing scenery & well maintained..
I highly recommend especially if you enjoy moorland & parkland courses.
Very nice course.
Really enjoyed our round at Dunscar, course in very good condition with a variety of very good holes.
Great views all round.
A few fairways/greens are very close to each other so if busy you have to be careful.
Would definitely recommend.
Scenic Course
Very well laid out course. Beautiful scenery and wildlife as a dear ran out in front of us. Course is tricky for a beginner with some narrow fairways and undulating greens, but overall a great course.
Good course
Course in great condition - fairways, greens and tees all well kept. Great value for money and worth a visit.
