A nice pretty course
Late booking (as always) couldn't find anything below £50 for a pm T-off, but then this came up at The Forest Of Arden, and what a lovely course and great condition. We were held up by 4 , 4 balls in front but it happens and they weren't too slow in fairness. The only slight niggle was the signage to some of the holes were well hidden.
Will definitely play there again.
Terrible customer service
Booked 6 people to play in 2 groups paid nearly 200£ when we got to the first tee we were told there was a golf pro in front with a lesson of 7 learners but they would let us through. To our frustration it took 3 holes to let one of our group through with the golf tutor totally ignoring those behind while the group took ages to complete the hole. The tutor then ignored the second group and after an hour of being stuck behind a group of 7 learners the second group had to skip a whole and just walk past in frustration. The learners were walking across courses while others were trying to take their shots.
We all need to learn to play and we don’t blame the learners but the golf pro was a disgrace how can you run a lesson at lunchtime of a busy bank holiday and ignore the players waiting behind ? Complained to the golf shop afterwards and met with a lukewarm “ oh sorry he should have let them thru “ . Totally ruined the day and this kind of don’t care attitude means we wouldn’t go back despite being a nice course. Think the pro needs to revisit the rules around etiquette and just good manners.
Good Course
Course in very good order. All greens excellent and enjoyable round. Only slight hiccup was a very slow 3 ball in front who eventually lets us through.
Very impressive
Considering the weather we have had in the Midlands lately the course was in great condition and greens were brilliant. Really enjoyed the round. Would highly recommend
Tight Course
An enjoyable early round on a spring day. Played alone and got out early and so pace of play wasn’t an issue.
The course is of a moderate length and difficulty with generally tight fairways and very firm but true greens. I feel this is the poorer cousin of the championship course next door. If I had a gripe it would be the long grass walking off of every tee even if booming one down the middle.
Staff were friendly and a green keeper even assisted me when finding my ball when wayward.
Off course facilities are excellent and arriving early to use them would be advised if you have the time.
Pricing was for me slightly expensive for this quality of course @ £35. Playing off 5.1 the course gave me an extra shot and was able to play just under Hcp even after being +3 after 3.
Overall, enjoyed the course and give 4/5.
Good course but left a little disappointed
We were first out on the course and looking forward to a good morning of golf. We were surprised even on the first hole how soft and muddy the course was. This spiraled into lost balls that were just off the fairway and bunkers we had to drop our balls out of because they were compacted like concrete. We talked to some members in the bar after and they said they treated all the course as gur not just the bunkers. All said and done we still enjoyed our round and we will be back but only in the summer.
Hot Day - Slow Play
It was a hot day for golf. A group (4 players) several holes ahead were very slow which backed up the rest of the groups. Quite frustrating to a point people skipped holes. It's pot luck I guess, but it took us 4 hrs for the round.
The greens played well. A couple of the tees were very wet which was a surprise.
Lovely course at great price
Booked a 4 ball Friday tee time at 11.50 for £35 is fantastic value
Well kept course and greens are superb.
Cant wait to play the arden course now.
Overall pretty mediocre course. Very expansive fairways not too challenging. On the afternoon we played due to a corporate event on Arden course many golfers thrown onto the Aylesford..so packed doubling up to fourball from a booked two ball..
Greens good...golf shop friendly and Marshall helpful.
Good course- poor customer aftercare
Great golf course, lovely condition and well maintained! A joy to play! Shame about the off course amenities… Pro shop closed at 1700??? finished golf at 2030, bar was closed,??? Couldn’t believe lack of welfare for Golfers overall!?? no drinks or food service… very very poor from a HOTEL owned championship course, … really need to sort this out !to attract casual golfers.
Gordon
The staff in the shop and gentleman on reception were exceptional!!
My playing partner was an hour late due to traffic problems, they manoeuvred things around so when he arrived we got on straight away. They also were very good with my playing partner in making him comfortable when he arrived stressed. However, maybe that was a bad idea as he won the golf…
Great course, great staff, very attentive, very professional!
Thank you, look forward to our next visit
Forest of Arden - Aylesford Course
Lovely set up and fairly challenging but it was the condition of the greens that impressed most. No marks at all, firm, true and smooth - A1 standard
Excellent
Great course. Very tough if you stray from the fairways (which happened a lot) but really enjoyed it.
Greens were excellent.
A fantastic round
Second time playing the course and that knowledge certainly helped! Could really see the difference and improvement in the course conditions from having previously played on a very wet winters day. Course was challenging but rewarding for good shots and smart decisions. The green side bunkers caught us out a few times but they were well maintained making them easier to escape. Pace of play was super quick with our group getting round in sub 4 hours. All in all a very enjoyable day out, can’t wait to play again.
