Decent for a 9 hole
If your looking for a quick round and a decent course then I’d recommend it.
Although at £25 for a twilight 9 hole is abit steep
Super little course
Full length 9 hole in great condition. Facilities limited but I went for the golf. Highly recommended.
No changing rooms... facilities are very basic. This is essentially just a simple municipal course. Cheap and cheerful (yet not really even that cheap!). The major off-putting factor was the amount of geese - the course is peppered with goose poo! Not great!
Avoid, terrible condition and not worth the green fee!
Unfortunately not a great experience at Godstone,
- 5 of the 9 greens were frozen rock solid, most courses would have closed them. I’d expect to have some kind of warning on their website. The fairways are very muddy, can’t complain too much for this time of year. The greens have been spiked heavily
- Pace of play was very slow, we teed off exactly on time only to find a 3 ball on the first green ahead of us. The first green is drivable so it felt like the pro shop didn’t do a good job in spacing out the groups. This group ignored us and didn’t let us play through. Very annoying as they duffing the ball 50 yards a time.
- To add insult to injury on the par 3 4th we both teed off, as we walked to the green a greens keeper drove up to the green and gestured that he was going to swap the pin placement, ridiculous! we waved and asked him not to as our shots had been played. He then stared daggers at us as we finished the hole, we get he has a job to do but to change a pin placement after teeing off is unacceptable.
I’ve written to Godstone for a refund and not a peep from them as of yet, I asked for a refund.
At £20 for 9’holes this is not a cheap and cheerful course which it should be. At Northdowns at the same time we could have played 18 holes for £16. Won’t be playing here again unless I get a refund for this round.
Would recommend avoiding this course unless you’re a hacker!
Nice layout
This is a great little course if you are pressed for time and want a quick 9 holes. The course is fairly forgiving off the tee but there are some well placed bunkers and water hazards to catch a stray shot.
Very nice balance of holes and great fun to play.
Nice course but very slow play
I've played at Godstone frequently since lockdown has eased, for the price it's great however the pace of play needs some serious improvement. We've booked through GolfNow before and turned up to be told that our tee time was double booked. It's a good course but it could be a great course, however, for the money, it's ideal for a knock about.
