Enjoyable Round of golf
Played here fort he first time and had an extremely enjoyable round.
We played when it was very windy, (40mph) but luckily the forecast rain didn't arrive until we were on our way home.
The wind made the front 9 quite short and the back 9 more challenging. Some of the front 9 holes are quite close together with tee boxes and greens near each other.
Some of the greens had been sanded recently but they were still good , fast and tricky to read and the varied slopes and pin positions made for challenging putting .
This was an interesting course and you had to think your way around.
Great views and everyone we met, either staff or fellow golfers were very pleasant.
We will return, hopefully when it's less windy!!!!
Mr d
course was very good greens and bunkers were very good .
Course recovering well from the dry weather
Nice course. Well maintained. Elevated tees on 1st, 12th and 17th. Uphill tee shots on 9th, 14th and 16th. Plenty more variation in elevations to boot.
Great course, better in summer
The course was a long course, lots of undulating hills and I would recommend a buggy if you aren’t as agile as some. There clearly has been some course maintenance happening which has made the fairways and greens less than ideal. Having said that, it is November! Would definitely play here again.
A fun course to play.
Played here for the first time. Greens were in great conditions. Course layout was fun. A few interesting tee shots. Given the hot conditions over July and August the fairways were a bit burnt but you can see them recovering. I look forward to playing the course again with the fairways are looking good again in September.
Good golf challenge
Guildford is on the north downs in Surrey and is good draining, making it ideal for winter golf. Today there were no temporary greens and they were generally in good condition and fair to putt on - maybe a little slow. The course is kept in good condition and bunkers raked with sufficient sand.
Just a warning for those who have not played here - it is public land and there are quite a few walkers, dog walkers and the odd runner around - you just need to watch out before playing.
Quality
Classier than most Offering pay and play.
Tees in good order with the club crest adorning the markers.
Bins with lids on a nice touch.
Not many bad holes at all.
Course played pretty well in the wet conditions. Can of course get windy on the downs.
A few very up and down hilly holes such as 1 and 17. Very nice for driving down into.
Good practice facilities with a mini range for short irons and wedges right alongside the putting greens and practice bunkers.
Would Definately recommend for the £25 a head we paid after 1PM.
Great value as this is a step up from many or its local rivals.
Proper golf club.
Enjoyable Round
Course in very good condition. Greens slow but true. Some tough holes but good interesting mix. Really enjoyed the round and the great views.
Perfect Spring Sunday afternoon
A really well-maintained and interesting course with the Surrey Hills playing a greater or lesser part in most of the holes. Good practice facilities (putting, chipping and irons range). Clubhouse which mixes a traditional exterior with modern facilities inside. Recommended.
Great course
Tough enjoyable and challenging front nine with the back nine opening up and providing amazing shot opportunity. Conditions were great.
a great course
played in a 3 ball course was in great nick green excellent
Excellent course and value
Really love this place....price is excellent value for what is a really beautiful and interesting course! Pro shop are friendly and I seem to play well which always helps!
Great course
Although the conditions were atrocious, all of us thoroughly enjoyed our round at Guildford Golf Club. It was in great condition and a very attractive layout.
Definitely be back to play again in sunshine!
Hidden Gem
A beautiful location on The Downs, shared with the world and his dog! The holes are tough but fair. Can’t wait to play there again.
Very enjoyable challenging course
Really liked the beautiful surroundings and layout of this course winding its way over the Surrey downs. Quite hilly in some parts but not over taxing, just adds to the natural layout of the holes. Front nine I would say is more picturesque whereas the back nine seemed a little cramped to get the holes in and easier to play. Our tee time allowed us some space to play behind a senior roll up, had it not been for this we would have had issues with pace of play. Greens perfect tricky to read, course in very good condition, Thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of this course.
Gem of a course.
We first played Guildford in 2015 and were so impressed its now become a staple on our golfing itinerary that we all enjoy playing.
The course always seems to be in good condition with challenging well maintained greens and great views of the Surrey countryside. Its a hilly course and quite demanding weather you're carrying or pushing a trolly.
If you haven't played Guildford, you need to. Its a real gem.
Golf on high
An interesting course with a great variety of holes. Great views at the top of the course. Greens usually lightening fast were slower due to recent rain. Fairways could have been better in places but early in the year.
Friendly staff, good food.
Temporary green
On booking late , the day before , then arrived at the golf course , we were told they had 18 temporary greens, had we know this we would had booked another course.
