Not impressed..

Really poor greens with mud patches all over them, most bunkers are GUR and some groups were playing in a 5 ball which resulted in VERY slow play. We came off on the 15th (would’ve come off earlier if we could of done)… and to top it off I got a £25 parking fine for not being in the bay properly even though there was no other way for me to get it in as the cars either side hadn’t parked correctly. Not a good first impression ha.

One of the best municipals around

A fantastic course, great layout and a different challenge on each hole. I’m aware the course has had its financial difficulties over the last few years, which can be seen in the condition of the odd green or tee - but in general it’s in good nick. In terms of layout and course design though, it’s up there with some of the best courses in the north west. So many really picturesque holes, with undulating fairways, tough shots over water-filled ravines and blind shots a plenty - not the mention the stunning views. It’s no wonder the great Peter Allis thought of Heaton Park as one of the most scenic courses he’d ever seen. It must be protected at all costs!

The best municipal course for miles

After not playing here for 12 years, I have started to come back more and more, as I appreciate how diverse this course is.
It's got it all. Hills, flat, wide and narrow, water and sand.
Excellent value, go play it!

Not as good as it once was

A few things would help:-
Car park signs would have you pay and display, but when playing golf you don’t need to. Can you get that info to golfers ok booking?

A couple of signs missing for hope direction.

Greens in very good condition. Front nine well maintained in general. All bunkers are terrible and need a lot of work.

Overall, ok, but I played here a few years ago and it was far better maintained.

I would t rush back for the same price can play nicer and better maintained courses.

Heaton park

Great course, very hilly. They need buggies. Not allowed to advertise that the parking is free because of the council, so ended up paying for parking £3.

Great course though.

So much potential

Ex municipal course and could be really good. Tatty tee beds and small greens. The greens were in good condition. Fees at £17 per person. Would struggle if unfit as very hilly on some holes.

A must

It’s been described in many ways my assertion.it’s hilly it’s difficult it’s wonderful and ridiculously cheap to play. I revisit once in a while as a physical and grin from ear to ear. Because of the price don’t expect quick round to do so misses the chance to enjoy so many different views. The standard of course is not perfect but you won’t have challenged your game if you never play it. Ask any Mancunian golfer all will say difficult track..an absolute must..I play off 12 it always makes a monkey out of me..

Slow play, no rules.

Played a 4 ball on Sunday and from the first tee I could see that this wouldn’t be like the usual courses I have played.

There were two chaps waiting to tee off who wore t shirts and Nike TN’s and were also sharing a golf bag between them. I’m far from a golf snob but this seemed odd.

I couldn’t fault the fairways; good condition considering how many people seem to play this course. The Greens however weren’t great. There was barely any grass on them what so ever

From the third hole we were stuck waiting to tee off right up until the 18th. Way too many people playing and also nobody seemed to enforce the rules.

A couple of young workers flew past us whilst we playing on a number of occasions and could clearly see the course was backed up due to slow play but nothing was said or done about this

Wouldn’t play here again.

Really slow

Played as a 1 ball took me 4 and a half hours,, got caught behind a three ball on the second hole, they didn’t let me through until the 12th by which time we had caught up with another three ball in front of them (they were not in sight when I first caught up). Alongside this, other people were clearly joining the course having not paid. Also on one hole a Walker was picking up golf balls and picked up mine and walked off with it. Nobody checking the course at any point. Very little instruction when I arrived at the course and no available on site parking due to busyness. Really poor experience, a shame because the course is a challenge and has a good variety of holes.
