Mixed feelings
First of all this is my first visit to Hindley Hall, on arrival the pro may me feel very welcome and explained everything that I needed to know.
The course was in excellent condition and the greens were fast. We ended up behind a 3 ball who were very slow causing pace of play to slow right down and bunch several groups behind up, this didn't help with the several par 3s on the front nine. Overall the course was nice, some tight holes so plotting you're way round is key.
We came off and decided to use the clubhouse for some lunch, this kind of spoilt our impressions of the place as we waited over an hour for food.
All on all I'd recommend Hindley Hall
Phenomenal course.
Course was challenging but incredibly enjoyable and in great condition, staff pro was helpful and friendly.
Greens
Good course but played 3/4 times and greens have always been not the best
Fairways underwater
Played my last game before lockdown and was very unhappy with the state of the course as most fairways were underwater, in my opinion the course should have been closed.
Really enjoyed the round
Played here midweek. The staff in the pro-shop were really friendly. The course was in really good condition given the recent weather. A few wet patches but no complaints. Would definitely go again
Nice course
Played on a wet day when other courses were closed. Friendly staff, course in good condition, especially the greens. Would play again.
Bang average at best
Where do I start? Uneven tee boxes with nowhere flat to stand. A choice of either long grass or mud to tee the ball on. Bunkers should be gur no sand in them only dry lumpy mud. Greens are well kept but are needlessly 100mph. Fairways average wont be playing again .
Very well looked after golf course
Very good golf course in good condition will be going back not to hilly nice walk aswell & staff very friendly
Hindley hall review
First time I’ve played this course and it won’t be the last, a rehearsal well looked after course with brilliant quick greens in excellent condition albeit a little boggy due to really heavy rain storms for a few days previous, but that was not going to take anything away from a great course, nice club house but unfortunately it was closed due to covid. I will definitely come back
Perfect course
Always in great condition and very welcoming. Great place to play and a well looked after course. We will be back. Highly recommend
Nice coarse
Coarse was in very good condition and green were very well looked after
Played here three times now.
Always in good condition.
Greens excellent.
Would definitely recommend.
Hindley Hall Course Review
Hindley Hall. Its been on my doorstep for years. I've driven by countless times, and only just ventured onto their course.
The course and hall have been around for a long time so this is one of the more established courses in the area.
Due to the coronavirus, I did not look at the clubhouse itself although they appear to be making improvements in and around it. I'm sure the work being done will further enhance the impressive Manor House and surrounding areas. The pro shop appears to have been moved to a temporary building but offered a pleasant welcome and directions to all the facilities.
So, onto the course itself. Although the holes are a little bit throw together in terms of layout, they are clearly signposted. Getting from the tenth to the eleventh involves traversing another hole before getting there. There are also a few holes where you'd need to go back on yourself before reaching the tee, but this does not interfere with pace of play.
The course is relatively flat and an easy walking course, however do not be fooled by meaning this makes it easy to play. Well guarded bunkered greens and tree lined fairways await you on most holes. To score well here you must drive it well.
The greens themselves are the star of this course. Firm, fast and beautifully presented. A few bunkers could do with a rake, but with restrictions on rakes at the moment due to coronavirus, that's entirely forgivable. Nice amount of sand in the bunkers that I went in. Nothing worse than trying to splash out of concrete!
All in all a lovely course, that has stood the test of time. Fairways and greens drained well from the last few days of rain and it added to the enjoyment of the round.
