A real gem
The best greens in all Derbyshire. Honestly, the best. The course is relatively short but you need to be in the fairway as there are trees everywhere and you'll be totally blocked out. The course is pretty hill (it is in Derbyshire!) but well laid out and you don't have other wayward groups in your fairway. The greens are a thing of beauty. So true, good pace and with huge slopes. Sooooo fun much.
I played alone and a 4 ball in front were awful but didn't let me through, which, technically, is fair enough as a single player has no standing (a ridiculously out-dated rule) so I played the front 9 twice - one of the best thing about having two loops of 9 that start and finish at the clubhouse. I've played before so I wasn't really missing out plus I like to have a good practise when I'm playing alone.
Clubhouse bar and 10th hole coffee shop has reopened, obviously with some limitations. Staff are friendly and the pro shop is well stocked and well priced.
Apart from Kedleston Park (which is £50 more for a round) and Cavendish in Buxton it's right up there as the best course in Derbyshire.
Sunday Knock
Played the course several times. Lovely layout with plenty of ups and down. Stuck behind a 3 ball for 18 holes as a one ball wasn’t much fun.
Enjoyable and in very good condition less the many bare and dead grass patches just off of most of the putting surfaces.
All in all - good.
Nice course, will be better in the summer
First time playing this course and considering the weather of late it was in good condition. I will be playing this course in the summer. Played on temp tees but on all main greens. We played as a 2 ball behind a 4 ball on a Sunday morning and took 4 hours.
Great layout
Weather held out, 50 seniors were out in front but the play flowed well. Excellent round of golf and great food.
Great course
As usual the course was in tremendous condition. tee'd off at 16:45 and basically had the course to ourselves. highly recommended
horsley lodge
Good course to play.pace of play was a bit slow.using winter mats which were hard to get tees into on some holes!green in good condition for time of year.would go back and play again
What a shame
Played here a few times always held the greens up there with the best maybe it’s the weather I don’t know but they are in a poor state. Tee boxes are crying for attention and to make matters worse we had to wait at every hole because of the pace of play and we started at 4.20 pm.
Hope it rains soon the whole course is not a patch on what it should be
Hale Horsley
Great course. Greens have a lot of borrows and run offs. Fairways challenging as some on slopes. Rough is penal as it is quite long. Lots of hazards so you have to play well to get a good score.
Would play again and recommend to anyone. Bring lots of spare golf balls if you are not playing well!
Treat yourself go and play Horsley in my top 3 courses in Derbyshire.
Great course, Great value
First time playing this course and for £18 a round I don't think I have played much better.
Course conditions were great. Greens were a little slow however I think this was just because they had not be cut for a while. Were a little fluffy.
The layout of the course is great and I would definitely make a trip back to play again.
good greens
Overall a most enjoyable day.
friendly welcome course in excellent condition and good facilities.
Greens very good.
Good hole variety
It was my 1st round here since late 2015 as the course is a long distance for me. It is always a pleasure to play, but the course is in a slightly inferior condition now than it was previously.
Great value at £17 (early morning). Friendly staff. Course in very good condition. Can't comment on the amenities
