Lovely little course (par 61)
Good Fun! Fairways and bunkers in good condition but the greens need some serious TLC. Will definitely pay a return visit!
Not like the other courses at the hotel
Not a bad course but expected better. Tees were very soft and greens very muddy from worms. Course card also inaccurate.
Wouldn't reccomend
Not a course for non- members. I was challenged twice for being on the course and I was swore at by a grounds keeper.
The lay out of the course was slightly confusing and dangerous with work going on to build longer holes. The overall condition of the course was very basic, I have played on much nicer in the area.
No real club house from what I saw not that I wanted to stay any longer than I did!
If you are looking to play in the area try another course/club, the Portal is a local club for local people only!
Great little course
Didn’t know what to expect when I seen the reviews as there wasn’t to many , the course is great not long but tricky in places if you miss the green , greens could do with a little bit more work for the price worth it !
Decided to play the Arderne course with it being a short course and having a break from the driver. First impressions it seemed forgiving and fun until you hit a shot in the rough and couldn’t find your ball. Fairways were long and some of the greens were poor. If they spent a little more time maintaining the course I believe it would be worth a lot more then 12.50 a round. I get that there trying to make the course more challenging With making it imperative your in the fairway but when your losing more balls on a 4500 yard odd course then you are on a 6700 championship course, it starts to grate. Also wasn’t the easiest course to find once your in the grounds as no sign posts to direct you. Not bad for the money but I wouldn’t make my way down just for that course alone, however if your playing the Prem or the Champ course it may be worth doing 9 holes on the Arderne for a warm up.
In decline
Disappointed with condition of bunkers and greens.
