Challenging
Had a great day on the course, all the holes were interesting, going up and down the hills was challenging, for this time of year the course was in great condition. Once the frost melted the greens were in a great condition. Will definitely play again.
Golf
Tried to get a refund from golf now because the course closed because of too much water and golf now won’t respond to my emails or even pick up the phone , wouldn’t bother booking through these again and from now on will book directly with the course
Poor communication
On arrival we were told by some fellow golfers in the car park that trolleys were not allowed and that only 16 holes were open and all bunkers were GUR. As a result we had to carry trolley and tour bags which proved very difficult particularly with slippery conditions. We were offered no refund or partial refund and no apology was given. An email I sent to the club remains unanswered.
The greens were actually in decent condition and it was a shame the round was ruined by having to carry bags. Had we been given warning we could have organised carry bags.
Good course. Fun layout.
Bit pricey for Jan and 2 holes closed for 30 pounds but really enjoyed course would definitely like to go back in spring/summer where I think it will be in great condition. Staff were really friendly. Would recommend.
Highly recommend
This is an excellent course and for a very reasonable price. The scenery on the course is beautiful all the way around. Even for winter, the course was in good condition. I would say it is a challenging course with plenty of hills.
Excellent. Back to near its best.
Green keepers have done a fantastic job getting the course back to somewhere near its best after a couple of years where the weather had really taken its toll. A few currently bunkers being fixed up but it didn't detract, tee boxes were decent and the greens really nice for this time of year. Would definitely recommend.
Shortcomings
The biggest issue was the lack of a buggy. The buggy park had no shortage of vehicles at 10 am when we arrived for our 10.20 booking but we were told all had been booked. On the course we noticed most players were on foot and when we returned almost four hours later there were still unused machines in the buggy park. How were the vehicles ALL fully booked?
Welcome visit?
Booked an early tee off, waited for the pro shop to open. No one in front or behind so I could play at my own pace, which allowed time for cleaning sand off the golf ball on the greens , trying to find a ball after a blind tee shot. So much sand on the greens made pitching and putting a lottery. Morning dew meant ball just gathered sand like a snowball as it rolled over the greens. I wish there was some way either the course of golf now would advise when the greens have been treated like that, so they can be avoided, feel I paid full price for a poor experience. Some excellent views from the highest holes of Stratford. Quite a challenging course, quite tight off the tee, some blind.tee shots, big elevation changes made choosing the right club difficult, greens mostly flat.. nice looking golf course, in countryside, even saw a couple of deer grazing alongside a fairway.
Challenging
Haven’t played for 3 years so have the usual
Aches and pains after playing on this up and down course, I my thing I would change is I would get a buggy next time until I start playing regularly again as the last 6 holes hurt me for sure
