Good Sunday Afternoon Out

Course in good condition - felt quite long - 5 par 5's, some long par 4's and 2 long par 3's. Good test of golf, no holes were similar, very quiet - no road noise and very picturesque in places.

Rob

A 20 year old course so not fully mature. Bunkers were undergoing work so some under repair or without sand. Rough a liitle long and greens not very receptive as if you hit them you could not keep the ball on them. I hope that this will improve with maturity?

Very good condition except most bunkers were GUR

We were made welcome, very helpful pro, shop staff.
The course was very well laid out and manicured and the greens were in very good condition.
The only downsides were that almost all the bunkers were GUR and the rough was at a length that it was extremely difficult to find your ball if you strayed, this holds up play.
We thoroughly enjoyed our round and will return. We didn't use the clubhouse as we were short of time.

Ok for the price, but bunkers need sorting asap

The course has a good layout with a mixture of types of hole and difficulty. For less than £30 on a Saturday morning it's good value.
The club house is a little tired, but with friendly and welcoming staff.
Some good work has been done on course amenities - tee markers, well-cut pins, rubbish bins etc. but the big issue is the bunkers. Most are GUR, and those with sand in look more like gravel, or in the case of the 11th, has far too much sand in. The situation was the same when I played this course a year ago, so they really should have sorted this out by now.

Poor Poor Poor

I always read reviews before playing a new course but I like to make my own mind up. Never have I seen so many bunkers GUR. It got to the point where I could see bunkers on the maps but knowing they would probably be GUR they no longer became a hazard. The pace of play was also painfully slow, just over 5 hours. This wasn't helped by a four ball not letting anyone through. They had many opportunities like when they were stood on the tee of a par 3 with a 2 ball and our 3 ball waiting patiently. Course management obviously needs reviewing. I cant see me playing this course anytime in the near future.

Nazeing

Course is challenging with some good water features, although wide fairways at most holes mitigates the difficulty, including some short Par 5's. The major downside is the huge number of bunkers that are out of action and deemed GUR, because they have become overgrown or not looked after properly. This needs to be addressed. Otherwise, a good enjoyable round.

A great long course

I have played at Nazeing many times and the course is always in good condition, especially the greens .. A few of the bunker need improving with proper sand.
The staff are always friendly and the club house has a great atmosphere with a good choice of drinks and food.

Shame about the condition of the bunkers

A lot of the bunkers are GWR or waste areas.
All the yellow marker were so far forward that you were nearly playing off the Ladies tees - very disappointed with this course.

In nead of some TLC !

This is a nice course, but it needs some TLC. Quite a lot of the bunkers are dilapidated with weeds & stones, instead of sand. As some bunkers have good sand, it looks as if they are letting the others turn back into rough. They were actually working on one bunker on the day we played. There are also areas of undergrowth that looked untreated and gave the course an unkempt appearance. The layout is a bit confusing, with a few holes having a good walk from green to next tee and not many signs indicating direction to next tee. We needed guidance from members to find the next tee on two occasions
On the positive side, the greens are in good condition, very firm on the day we played. Hole layouts are interesting & challenging. It wasn't busy, so pace of play was in our control & we got round pretty quickly. There's a decent Driving Range to warm up on and the clubhouse has good facilities.
Would go back again if the price is attractive

Nazeing Golf Course, Essex

Represented good value for money, especially as the course was played over the first May Bank Holiday.
The course has not yet fully matured but offers a good test for golfers of any standard. A lot of work is needed still on the course e.g. a number of the bunkers are GUR, but the majority of the course is in good condition. The back 9 seemed harder than the front 9 and you need to be careful not to go out of bounds on some holes.

Nazeing golf course

Not a bad course, most bunkers not in use so some work required there biggest grumble was pace of play this seemed to be caused by tee of times being booked more than once.

Great course

Played here for first time today and unfortunately it was foggy for first 11 holes so was guessing a bit but 4 birdies later and a round of 77 happy days.
Greens running really nice the only thing i noticed was a lot of fairway bunkers being gur but it looks as though they are onto it as some new sand etc in quite a few of them give it a try. I will be back fpr sure.
