Formerly known as Columbia Lakes Resort & Conference Center. Tall Texas oak trees covered in moss, dogleg fairways, lagoons, and winding, clear-blue lakes highlight the golf course on this 2,000-acre resort. Many of the holes have been nominated as some of the most difficult in Houston, including the 533-yard fifth, which doglegs right around a lake that impacts play on every shot. No. 18, a long par 4, requires a perfect drive to the right side of the fairway in order to have a chance to fire away at the long approach. This approach must carry water and avoid the overhanging trees, and the green is extremely shallow, less than 50 feet deep. Tom Fazio redesigned this impressive resort course in the early 1980s. It was his first assignment.

This course is challenging
Greens have greatly improved, not pretty but they are rolling smooth and holding. They are working on the bunkers adding sand and drainage. Great course to play and practice
Average course
Average course fairly maintained. Would recommend if you are considering a fair drive to it
nice course
The grass in the ruff was a little high and the fareway was a little wet in some spots but overall a good course to play you are never rushed by other player great course
course is worth the drive to
course was close and cheap not too expensive plenty to see to and fro the course
Improving
Still miss mulligans (cafe/bar/grill)...there is nowhere to get food or drinks till Brazos grill opens at 11am...
Great course
Had a great time at course. The staff at The golf course was very courteous and very polite and friendly they had my cart ready when I got there so there was no waiting and no paperwork to be filled out. The course was well kept in a very nice relaxing neighborhood.it was a experience like I had never had. No rush in trying to complete my hole before someone else trying to get to the green. The wildlife was wonderful to play along with and the greens where kept very well. I look forward to playing this course in the next few weeks and recommend that you try it out for yourself. Booking the trip on golf now.com was very convenient and easy to do. The club house had many things for sale or had something that you might had forgotten. Had a great experience and recommend it to all my friends.
Getting better!!!
This used to be a really nice golf course until several years ago when it went to pot. They have finally started improving where we will consider playing it again.

Great deal for the money. Hot deal $10. Course is in good shape. Greens are on the slow side
great goff holes
not a bad golf hole on the course, greens good enough, I fully understand and sympathise with golf courses with all the rain this yearit has been very hard to keep things mowed, I lost two balls just off the fairway and several others required exstensive searches to locate, I definitely want to play this Fazio layout again real soon
Worst course I have ever played. Ever.
So this course is in a retirement community about an hour south of Houston. It was awful. I am pretty easily satisfied with golf courses but this was a waste of a drive. The grass on the tee boxes is long. The fairway is lined with these tall clovers so you can't even find your ball if it lands on the fairway. The greens. Oh my lord. They should be called whites. Because about 60-80% of each green is pure sand. It's too bad I can't post a picture of the greens/whites.The water everywhere is supposed to be scenic but is filthy both in appearance and smell. How golfnow allows this course to be on there is mind boggling to me.
You can go home again
This was the course to play in Brazoria County Texas during the 1980s. Difficult but fair. Now it is an old maid living in a dilapidated frame house filled with stray cats. Fairways unmowed, greens more sand than grass, tee boxes unleveled and unprepared, etc. Such a shame. They should bulldoze the entire layout and build middle income homes.
Great service, peaceful setting
Beautiful course with some really challenging holes. Lots of water made for some strategic club decisions, and the track was laid out well. Pace a bit slow, but folks were very friendly and considerate of my wife and I. Greens and fairways in good, not great condition. Any slight flaw in the course was forgotten quickly because of the excellent service and the general scenery of the beautiful, matured course. Rates looked reasonable, but if you can find a hot deal its an excellent value.
Good Value
We got this tee time as a "Hot Deal". It was the first time playing the course. It has a nice layout , but some of the greens are have bare spots and the bunkers need some work.
Flukester and sons
Looked like it was a resort at one time but a little run down. Bunkers were unplayable but the track was pretty challenging and the greens weren't too bad
Used to be the top course in the area
There is now grass on the greens but still lots of bald spots. The fairways are getting lots of ruts with people driving carts through muddy spots this year.
Cheap green fees, but u get what u pay for..
Overall a positive experience,... Only thing worth pointing out is the poor condition of the course. Most greens had large patches of dead grass. Fairways had been mowed, but grass clippings were clumped up all over the Fairways. Could be a very nice course if the grounds keepers did a better job with it.
Priced just right
Yes the greens are in bad shape, but for a 'hot deal' on golf now, it's worth the trip. Every time I go here, the maintenance crew is hard at work. You can actually put the tee in the ground, there is sand in the bunkers and grass in the fairways. That is much more than I can say for many courses in the Houston area. Good things come to those who wait.
unplayable
you can only play this course from tee to fairway, greens are unplayable. i am surprised they are even open. they dont even have weeds on the greens, its just flat out sand. very disappointed because the layout of the course is very challenging. spoke to the manager afterwards, they are hoping to be in playable condition sometime next week. i'd love to play this course when its in decent shape.
Course needs work, greens are dead
Columbia Lakes is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes away but is a course I have played many times and have enjoyed the layout and the challenge. The people are always very friendly and the pace is very good. However for some reason the present state of the course is horrible especially and I use this term loosely the greens because they are mostly dirt and patches of grass. My best guess would be that something or some bacteria has caused this and naturally I wish had known this before making the drive. I plan to play this course in the future with the hopes course will improve.
