good course, great shape,somewhat overwatered.
Enjoyed a nice afternoon round of golf, although the course was pretty muddy in places, perhaps from too much watering (automatic aprinklers ??) on top of recent rains. I don't know how much rain the Wimberly area received; it may have all been due to the rain. Snack area after the round was very good-- tasty catfish dinner--staff was very nice. I really enjoyed the course. hope to visit again soon.
Beautiful scenery, interesting holes, but rough around the edges.
Staff was courteous and helpful. We were able to tee off a little before our tee time. Pace of play was okay. Course was in fair shape, although it was really wet/muddy in a lot of locations.(Despite there being no recent rains.) There are some very interestng holes, and lots of scenery/wildlife etc. Great value for the price, and a fun outing.
Mud
When I played here it was had a lot of wetness around the fringe of the greens, So you couldn't just bounce the ball up to the hole. The greens are real fast and don't hold your ball on if you do make a great approach shot. For as much water that was around the greens, the greens were not very soft (no divots). This could be a really nice course with some challenging holes if you could stick the greens.
Great value
We really enjoyed our round. Started with some great burgers and the folks were as friendly as can be. The course was in great shape and the greens were very good.
This course is enjoyable to play.
We enjoyed our play here. The course was in good shape. We will definatley play this course again.
challenging greens and hole placement, well maintained
Overall great value. Narrow fairways, small undulating greens, challenging hole placement. this course will make you think.
What a Value!
This was my second time to play this course. They have put a lot of water on the course it was green and in very good shape. Nice sand in the bunkers and good greens. Unfortunately it appears the same people are playing the course now as when it was in poor condition. Nobody fixes their divots. Tee markers are in bad shape with the exception of #14 where it looks like that hole was someones personal project. Green fees were $10.00 on Golfnow. Unbelievable and a steal. Also, If you like deer this is the place. I'm pretty sure they were on every hole.
In good shape
Course was in good shape. All had been overseeded for winter and the rye on the fairways & tee boxes was at least 1" deep & beautiful green - good lies on the fairway. Greens were just a bit slow but OK. Rough needs more frequent mowing so you can find your ball when you miss the fairway. Gas golf carts. I paid about $14 for the round including cart. No driving range. Played on 10/24/2012
The course conditions were poor
I have always enjoyed playing Quicksand before, even during the dought they took very good care of the course. This last time I was there there fairways were in the condition youm would cosider playing out of the rough. Some greens were cut while others were not. I have heard (not sure if this correct) that they have a new greens keeper,if this is the case I hope they get the old one back. Or at least someone who knows what they're doing.
Great little country course
Good / fun to play course. Greens had been recently overseeded and needed to be mowed, but were tolerable. Only negative was Pro Shop assistant who was a bit awkward about allowing a slightly earlier tee time than that booked despite that NO ONE was on the course in the late morning when we arrived to play. Staff in the adjacent restaurant and their food were very good ... a good experience to compliment the golf.
The course Pro shop lacks a little.
The fairways and greens had recently been over seeded, and had not been mowed in about a week. This made the play a little undesireable. This overseeding is normal maintenance for this time of year, therefore, I will play the course in the future, and recommend the course to others.
A "Nice Enough" Course In Wimberley
Quicksand is an okay course; decent routing and challenges; generally in good shape; greens are sloped but puttable. Seems it could use just a touch more in amenities--yardage indicators, mainly. The time I was there, the water in the jugs by some of the holes was too warm and not very tasty. Not a course I would want to play in above-normal heat.
Great Course
Thoroughly enjoyed the course and will definitely return! Really cool seeing deer on almost every hole.
lot of potential
Nothing was mentioned when we arrived about the greens being sanded and fertilized. So, putting was a joke. On the tenth hole there were half a dozen workers down the fairway with equipment. We were told by one of them to stay off the fairway the "next 2 holes." Than he yelled at us for parking on the fairway we were on to hit our 2nd shots. I told the manager in the club house ( who had put up a sign about the conditions when he came in at noon!). He apologized. I would have offered a discount or a free round in the future. Lame!
Course being prepared for winter play
A mature course that shows its age. Needs lots of attention and an infusion of cash to have the condition match the course written description. Greens recently sanded and over seeding in progress for winter play. Small, undulating greens will challenge even low handicap golfers to score well. Tree lined fairways with rocky rough rewards the golfer who keeps the ball on the short grass. Overall a fun course, but don't expect resort course beauty or amenities. But for the Golf Now price of $18 with cart for 18 holes, a very pleasant staff, and relaxed pace, it is worth every penny.
Texas Hill Country Course
Most holes are doglegs. Thick tree cover on all holes. Houses and out of bounds on both sides of all holes. Small greens. Never very busy. No amenities.
Potential
This place has a ton of potential, gorgeous views and the greens were in good shape. Looks like they may have lost their fairways a few years ago because they are really shabby and contain about 4 different types of grass and weeds mixed. Bunkers could used some sifting before adding sand, you'll find medium to large rocks in there. Other than that this is a cool track that just needs some help, more money and members is obviously needed, that alone is a tough challenge.
A lot of personality
This course has a lot of holes with interesting landscapes. Most of the fairways are tight with little margin for error. You will see deer throughout the day. In relation to the fairways and greens, the tee boxes tend to be very hard and not well cared for. I believe the fee for 18 holes is a little over priced, but it could just be me.
