Hot on the hills, but well kept course.
Hottest day of year is never great for a round of golf, but Selsdon was a great course.
Greens were in brilliant condition and well looked after in the hot weather.
A tough course that has challenges for all golfer. Course is hilly, but tee box layout means it’s suitable for all golfers.
Been in better condition
This is a great course and should be on your list to play if you are in the area. However the pace of play was a bit slow with a group of 4Ball in front holding up three groups of three ball behind so getting very congested by the back nine came around. The conditions where average, fairways had seen better days and could have done with a bit of water. Was like playing if concrete on some holes. Then in contrast the greens where in better condition and fast.,
Needs some improvement
Greens slow and patchy and bumpy
Tees not flat at all
Bunkers seem to.benall different sands some you can see the lining of bunker coming through
Some very patchy areas around greens
The layout is nice, the staff in shop was friendly.
A bit of a hit and miss
A lengthy course with lots of adulation and exciting par 5`s and very friendly staff. The condition of the greens was not great and they had inconsistent green speeds. Most tee boxes were also not level resulting in a couple of tee shots being hit with the ball either below or above our feet. Overall, comparing the course that other courses we have played recently at the same price points, the course was a bit lacking. I do want to emphasise that the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Solid but not one I would rush back to
Fairways were in fairly good nick. Course plays long and very long rough made it challenging, you were punished if you missed a fairway.
Conditions of greens were poor, bumpy, moss and slow.
Pathways and steps need some investment.
Staff good - flexed the size of our group at the last minute.
Great Staff and course
Firstly a huge shout out to Caroline at the pro shop - one of the nicest and friendliest experiences I’ve had at a golf course. Very nice track, more challenging front 9 than back 9 but all in all a good layout and was in good condition. Would definitely recommend and go back to play myself.
Long, wide and challenging
I think the average course distance is almost 30yard longer than other golf club. it's long and wide.
I played with my wife, and she told me that she understand why there is no woman in the golf club. It's hard to push and pull trolley as the course's up and down is somewhat challenging.
And the height of rough is quite high, if you do not drop your ball on the fairway, it's hard to find the ball.
Anyway, it's a good place to play challenging.
Enjoyable round. A few challenging par 3s and scoring opportunities on par 5s
I was running late but my playing partner was on time and informed the club house and they were great and delayed our tee time. Weather was cloudy with a spot of rain but that didn't impact the day, really enjoyed the day. I'd say the course does have quite wide fairways on Par4s & 5s. The rough was cut down well so you could find your ball if you do go wayward. Took us just over 4 hours to walk all 18.
Poor drainage & bumpy greens
Unfortunately with the recent wet weather Selsdon Park is in a extremely boggy condition. Balls were plugging in the rough and on the aprons of the greens.
There was also visible patches on the greens (possibly deseased) which made putting very inconstant.
The course layout is great and approach shots are tricky due to the raised greens.
Hopefully the course will recover in time for spring. Until then I would avoid unless there is a sustained period of dry weather.
Sat golf
This place is always busy on a Saturday and most times I’ve played it’s very slow. Lots of non-regular golfer who don’t seem to have any idea of pace or keeping up with the people in front.
But I like the course and for £20 it’s very reasonable. I go knowing I could be in for a long round.
We only played 14 as the 4 ball in front we so slow (especially the one in orange!) we were having to wait every shot - we’d lost the will to live a little!
