Great course

Brilliant course even with a lot work being undertaken to improve drainage and to continually improve the course. Heard that they'd been short of a greenkeeper so their efforts to keep the course in such condition should be highly commended.
Time between teetimes seemed to be tight but as we played in a 3 ball and everyone else seemed to be in pairs maybe that caused us to have to let a few groups through but we certainly wrent playing slow..
Another brilliant visit and really nice to have a drink on the terrace afterwards - the food options looked really good and very reasonably priced.
A lovely club and course which i highly recommend and will be visiting again.

Stunning course

First time playing this course and it was really enjoyable, the course and greens were in exceptional condition
Not many fairway hazards but not needed with most fairways being lined with large very old trees
Most greens were a challenge to say the least, it was great to be putting on undulating greens that were in exceptional condition
Pro shop and clubhouse staff were really friendly and helpful
All topped of with a lovely sunny day
We will be back, thank you to all the staff and green keeping staff at Shipley golf club

COVID Golf

First time playing Shipley but very enjoyable. Small course tucked away amongst the woods with great outlook Tight and difficult to score on. Greens were a bit slower than I’m used too but in good condition. Clearly like many courses was experiencing its first visitors since lockdown but every one was extremely friendly and facilities in clubhouse well set up. Will certainly return.

Wet weather

Shipley Golf Club

It has been very wet in Yorkshire in April but the course while wet had very few muddy areas. There was a warm welcome from the Professionals shop but the catering was closed. We played the winter course which was enjoyable and as you would expect for the time of the year

A course with good winter conditions

We played on a cold but sunny morning. Although there were only 9 holes which we had to play twice the general condition of the course was very good with only a few muddy areas and the fairways general firm. The greens were in excellent condition, even though some work on them was continuing. Winter Tees were of reasonable size, firm and easy to set your ball up.
The clubhouse has excellent facilities and the star we dealt with were friendly and efficient and the food was reasonably priced

Winter set-up

Hole 11 out of play due to re-seeding and landscaping work. All other holes played from Winter Tee box. Most of these were some distance from the summer Tee starts which was a problem as we found only five of these were marked with a fairway number and there was no other indication as to where the next Tee was from the last hole played.
Due to course layout having finished the 10th we moved to what appeared to be the 12th winter tee. Fortunately a member pointed out it was in fact the 16th and we needed to be 50 yards further on for the 12th.
As a number of the fairways cross other fairways on a busy day we could see the pace of play being slower whilst waiting for players to clear for safety reasons.
I understand this course is much more expensive to play in summer, I just hope they mark all the fairways/holes at that time.
Would I play here again. Yes as I now know where I am going. If you are playing for first time make sure you purchase a course book from the pro shop.

The course was wet but the staff were friendly

The course was wet and a number of the greens had been hallow tined. The staff made us feel welcome as did the members. Lunch was very good.

Excellent! Enough said!

Superb course. Bit of an issue with drainage on the edge of some of the greens and in the bunkers but to be fair, we had had a fair bit of rain!!! Outside of the bits of standing water, the greens were in superb condition and very quick. Only saw 7 other people on the course all day so no issues with pace of play. Need to be alert on some holes as fairways cross footpaths in between holes etc. Didn't use bar or try any food as it was closed but well stocked pro shop and friendly greeting on arrival. Toilets and changing rooms were extremely smart!!

All in all, a very good day out. Got it at a ridiculous price. Would definately play again and highly recommend.
