Tidy Course but poor signage
Played here for the first time with a friend yesterday. The tee boxes were in poor condition generally but the greens were good. The lack of basic directions to the next tee at ground level was very frustrating. We struggled to find our way round it took us well over two hours to get round even with the help of a friendly group putting us on track after the first hole....
Little gem of a course
Some of the best greens I’ve played on some time. Fairways were in fab condition. Some challenging holes. Our round was only let down by a four ball who we were stuck behind and had no intention of calling us through. Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed the course and will definitely return.
Little gem
Really impressed . Greenkeeper was really friendly and so were the shop and bar staff . Course is tricky and in good condition .
Greens were responsive if hit into but ran for ever if chip and run . Really quick to put on but true . Some tricky pins but overall really enjoyed it and would definitely return
Quirky Course
This is not a long course , but has other challenges as its defence.
There are a mixture of Drivable shorter holes and good interesting par threes along with a couple of holes that play longer than their length .
The course winds around a hillside and has two sets of disticntive tee settings for the nine holes.
The fairways and greens were in excellent condition and it was obvious that they have been working on shaping the fairways by growing the rough into distinct structures to further add to the difficulty.
The two sections of rough were sufficiently punishing to stop your ball , but gave you the playability.
The greens were really fast and true , lots of subtle breaks , it is a course that you need to play more than once as it will catch you out positionally.
Overall it is a place we intend to return to as prior knowledge is key to a good score .
Very nice course. Well kept greeens. Will go
Back when weather warmer.
More to it than meets the eye. Good course
Only nine hols but 18 tee boxes which creates variety. We had a great round, greens in good nick and staff very friendly. Great value for money
Great little course
Despite only being 9 holes (2 different tee boxes, if you play 9) this course is both forgiving around the greens and generous with the fairways some shorter 4s and some Long 4s.
Would recommend to atleast try to anyone, tee boxes could do with some TLC but not bad enough to complain about (yet).
Enjoyed
Very good all round but course layout confusing as to many tees
Stafford Castle. The Gem in a Town
This 9 hole course (to be played twice from different Tees for 18 holes) is a gem in the centre of Stafford. The course is very well laid out and despite some reservations regarding playing 9 twice regarding queuing on tees, we played the course without any hold ups. The course is kept to a very good standard and we were helped by some friendly staff. Thoroughly enjoyed our eighteen holes and would recommend to others to try it out. Good service and nice menu in the club afterwards.
Nice Course, but Hard to Navigate
Course was really nice, but hard to navigate. As our first time visit, it would have been nice to have a map of the course and where the next hole was. Spent far too much time trying to find where to go, and on one of the holes we couldn't find the blue tee which we were playing off.
A few signs directing you to where the next hole is, wouldn't be hard to add and make the experience almost perfect.
Other than that, the course is in great condition, with semi challenging holes. Fairways need to be found in order to score well at this course.
Good course to open your shoulders
Third time playing this course. Not dissimilar to Stone as a 9 holer with different tee off for the back 9 and just over 6000 yards. Fairways are wide so you can enjoy a good bash off the tee and fairway. Greens were quite quick and all in all its a decent course although not too many hazards if you like that sort of thing.
Sunny day
Great course / friendly staff / sun was shining and nice old beer at the end made for a great afternoon
