Scenic Course, Greens good, Fairways in Poor Condition
I’ll start by saying that this is a pretty course played on a sunny day. I might go back for another go some other time, as I live fairly locally. The clubhouse is nice, and prices reasonable.
The greens are well turned out, quite fast, but predictable. The tees are in good condition.
However, the fairways were awful. Grass was ridiculously long, and more like the rough you would find on most courses. In fact, I managed to lose 3 balls on the fairways, as they either nestled down in the long grass, or slid under the mown grass that had not been removed from the previous cut.
Perhaps it was just one of those ‘in between’ days, with grass cutting having been tricky after a lot of recent rain. The course was still quite boggy in parts.
Very Wet & Boggy
First of all I'd like to see we have played this course a number of times over the summer and found it excellent.
Our last experience after some heavy rain was a different matter. The fairways were very boggy, I lost a number of balls that went straight down the middle from plugging and it became very frustrating after hitting a good shot. Some holes were on the verge of being unplayable.
We were also disappointed to find a 3 ball of beginners teeing off on the 10th, just as we were leaving the 9th green. Proceeded to wait 15 minutes for them to finish the hole which basically wrote off the 10th and 11th, again very frustrating.
Overall I think the course is very good in the summer but I wont be paying £20 per head to play over the coming months. It's just too wet and losing balls from no fault of your own can be frustrating. We will be back in the summer :)
Slow and wet
'Well drained course' but was a bog. I don't mind the course conditions so much as it has had heavy rain recently. What I do mind is the lack of ettiquete. Three beginners in front of us who took 30 mins to do the 1st hole and while teeing off we had 3 groups waiting. By the second hole it had been close to an hour and we decided to skip to the 5th. Fairways are like rough, greens and bunkers were immaculate but battered with unrepaired pitch marks.
Truly Amazed we were allowed to play
Well I rang first and the young man on the phone said the conditions were ok to play but we had to book online so with my home course full we said ok let go for it - well we teed of at 15.22pm and to say the course was a unplayable it was a mud bath and the course should be closed - first two holes tee off fairway ball hit only an iron and splat lost - fairway!!!!!!!
Secondly we got stuck behind a couple of players boys who played very well but the group ahead of them were a disgrace
Tee off at 15.22pm we completed 9 Holes at ........................ 18.44pm (3h.22m) for 9 Holes Joke !!!!!!!!! Sorry to say not good enough staining - then on my way off the course with more mud on me than a pig after bathing in mud I spoke to another young gentleman who said - it’s your problem if you pay for 18 and only play 9 - it’s. Not the fact about the money £42 quid to play for 2 of us 18 seemed good value but not for this condition of the course - I can imagine that if his course were dry it would be a great day out we did not stay for a beer or food afterwards we needed to get clean so Do Not Play if it had rained Drainage is poor !!!!! I understand with Covid golf clubs need money and people playing but not like that I would expect better from a Golf Club in Honesty I truly would have hoped they would have said it was too wet to play basically the course should have been closed !!!! Worse than Green Drive and that’s Wet
staining's golf
The day days we played was Sunday the 22nd and and monday the 23rd course was very wet and muddy not very good drainage so if you play after a couple of days down pour not going to be very good have played hear in the past and a very good course when dry will sill return
Disappointing wet muddy fairways
First time playing the course and whilst the layout of the course is good, the general condition was very poor, the fairways where very wet and muddy, the drainage of the course is poor, tee shots where plugging on fairways and we where hitting a lot of shots of muddy wet areas on pretty much every fairway, not an expensive course but also not cheap and defo overpaid for the condition it was in for August (felt like a wet winters day), wouldn’t rush back and would only play again after a period of really good weather.
Nice layout but wet underfoot front 9
Enjoyable round apart from 4 lost tee shots that should have been fine but were nowhere to be found, can only assume they were plugging in the fairway.
Lovely round
Good course.
Good condition.
Variable golf played.......
All good.
Superb features
Great course well kept , lots of long holes, we’ll recommend...;)
Third Slow Round in a Row
I really enjoy playing this course as it's good layout and has rapidly improved over the years since opening.
However the last four rounds have all been well in excess of 3h40 mins with two of them over 4 hours. (All rounds played in 2 or 3 balls)
The lack of on-course marshals combined with novice "lockdown golfers" has created a turgid pace of play with waits on every shot.
Whereas I can get round other courses in under 3 hours, I have to plan for 4 hours+ on the course making it more difficult to find tee times around my schedule.
As good as it is to see so many people enjoying golf, without marshals to push forward the pace of play, inexperienced players are not realising the impact their dawdling is having on many groups behind.
Hopefully it improves otherwise I will have to look elsewhere to get my hour back!
Great course
Good selection of holes, able to socially distance, nice to be out in the fresh air !
Value for money
played the course on 20.7, after all the rain recently I didn't expect the course to be in such a good condition, even the greens. Well done
Windy windy round
Came back to this course after a winter round. The greens were great and the condition of the course in general was fantastic. I will be going back again, hopefully the wind is not as sharp as it was today.
Nice fairways and greens
Few bad reviews on here about condition of the course but it's in good condition at the moment. Decent course lay out and greens and fairways were nice. Forgiving course which was good after the covid 19 lay off. Very open course though and was rather windy. Paid 18.50 fair sort of price.
You running round ???? Under 3 hours for a round of golf !!!!
