Weekend single player
Very busy on the course. Wanted a casual Sunday round to work on my consistency so picked later in the afternoon but was added to a 3 ball booking in my time slot who seemed to think we were playing Augusta. Made the round much less enjoyable. Though this wasn’t the course’s fault as such, it wasn’t clear when booking that single players would be added to groups - be aware this is very likely the case. I’ll be sticking to weekday spots in future!
Excellent course
We found this a great fun course to play in truly excellent condition, particularly the greens. Difficult to lose balls but easy to lose shots; long enough when played off the whites. Hilly but walkable. Club seemed very friendly. My only complaint is that GolfNow, without informing us in advance, paired our twoball with another twoball which would have been really annoying had the club not sorted it for us. Watch out for that
Course that appears easy but challenging
This is an amazing course with challenging fairways and tough pin positions. Greens are reasonably fast and soft. Course layout is a bit confusing for a first time visitor.
best course from notting hill
nice course to go during the week, just 20 mins drive from notting hill, the nicest course close to the city
Proper members clubs
Of all the courses I tried within 20/30 mins drive from notting hill this is the best so far. It’s a proper members club, with nice facilities and all the golf rules applied. On paper the course seemed easy but it’s not. I played the whites and the par 4s are quite long and generally most of the holes are up or down a hill. Long and tiring to walk it, next time I’ll get a buggy! Can’t wait to go back!
Slow play
Had booked a tee time for 1:06
Was told to get off early as members would be teeing off at 1:00 (3 four balls)
Meant rushing to tee off early so no time to have a practice swing or quick putt
Took almost 4 hours 40 to complete our round which took away most of the enjoyment
Spring in Sudbury
We played in the afternoon-course was in excellent condition and greens superb.
Hilly in places we felt it in our legs at the end of the round.
Great views from the top of the course and bar and catering staff were very good-nice food at reasonable prices.
We will play the course again when all the trees are in leaf which will narrrow down the fairways and make the course more scenic.
10 minutes max from Hangar Lane roundabout.
Recommended.
Very pleased.
Nice course with very helpful staff. was travelling without clubs. Easy to get to from London. Short walk from Sudbury Town Station. Premium rental set of brand new Titleist AP3 irons, TS2 driver/3-wood, Vokey wedges and Scotty Cameron putter for 50GBP. Course was very wet, but great condition for February. Walked 18 holes as a solo in 3 hours.
Great greens
This is a great course! Challenging and with some nice elevation changes. The greens were very quick and in great condition for February!
Stunning Autumn Golf
Clear blue skies all Sunday afternoon, extensive views over London and a round in just under 4 hours - it is difficult to be critical. Greens in excellent condition and still playing as if in the summer. All fairways have been spiked presumably to re-seed/fertilise after die-back during the hot summer - so carry is limited but the work is essential. Harry Colt did a great job here with a tight location. Wayward drives are often not harshly penaised because recovery from adjacent fairways over the mostly medium-sized trees is often feasible. Practice area is right in the centre of the course. Putting practice is adjacent to the clubhouse.
Convenient from West End
Played as a single and played quickly. Harsh summer has hardened the fairways but greens are in good shape. Local knowledge would be useful given severe slopes on fairways and greens. Pro shop staff were helpful but uninterested however, bar staff were very friendly. I would definitely play again.
Very good course
Second time playing here in a week. Very good course and reasonable price.
More challenging than it may seem
Nice local course
Really nice course. Layed our well. Although be aware if you have a gps watch or app the front nine and back nine are the wrong way around due to a recent course change.
Otherwise it’s a challenging course with nice greens. More challenging than it first may look.
Would go back for sure
