Worth a visit!!
Played Surrey Downs on a last minute whim and was thoroughly impressed for what we paid. The greens were great, much quicker than the practice green which caught us all out on the first few holes!! Layout is interesting, has some fantastic views of the surrounding area and was tougher than tougher than it looked on a few holes!! It was certainly a good test of golf!! I would throughly recommend a visit here 👍
Very good course, good value.
Course was in very good condition, greens very good. Excellent value for money. Played 7:35am on a Bank holiday and not very busy at all. No signage on tee box’s in a negative.
Greens are being worked on
Lovely course but greens are being worked on right now
OP
Course was in very poor condition, weeds all over the fairways and tees and general lack of investment everywhere. Bunkers were impacted by heavy rain earlier in the day but weeds and general poor maintenance clear to see. £29.50 green fee is too high, there are better local options available, Attempted to get a drink at 6pm but were made to feel very unwelcome. We won’t be retuning.
Much improved
First round at Surrey Downs for about a year. Course in excellent condition, greens running well and at last some sand in the bunkers. Would recommend the course now.
Only moan slow pace of play. Four ball unwilling to let two balls through
Most Enjoyable
Considering the limited rain we have had the course was playing well. Greens were in good condition. Fairways were patchy in places. Pace was slow in places but generally good. Great club house.
Nice course
Great course, conditions good considering the drought, most greens were in good shape. TONS of blind shots, and several approaches over trees unless tee shot hit in perfect spot! So a GPS app or course guide is essential for a first time player. For such a nice course, needs some signage between tees, several times I went the wrong way! Biggest complaint was pace of play was incredibly slow, sometimes 3 groups on 1 hole! Tee times need to be further apart. But all in all I enjoyed the course, if maybe a bit pricey.
Great course
Good course but buggies are ridiculously over priced at £35
Which killed our day really
£35 for a twilight buggy is outrageous
Most enjoyable course
I have played this course quite a few times and I think the variety of holes plus the gorgeous views make this course an absolute pleasure.
Slow play
Played here a few times now as it’s very local, but this is the first time I’ve walked off a course after 6 holes due to slow play. I teed off at 4pm on my own and quickly caught up with a 3 ball on the 2nd hole it took me 50 mins to play the first 4 holes. On every tee box the group in front would look behind and notice me but wouldn’t wave me through by time I got to the 6th I’d had enough and walked off. I don’t think these where members as I played there before and felt welcome around the course. Clearly the summer is here and everyone is out playing but maybe a Marshall should be used to help speed things up or get a single player played through. A waste of £35 on my part.
Great greens, tight fairways
What seems at first a relatively open course, it soon transpires that you have to keep your ball on the fairway as the rough is penal and very likely you will lose your ball being just a yard or so off…! However the fairways were well kept, greens amazing. Bunkers were quite thin with lots of stones, so you have to be careful not to get a flyer. Club house nice, good menu and drinks. Will go back, good value.
Has potential but needs work
Very challenging, very firm, fast, true greens, with the course overall in good condition other than the rocks that line the bunkers which REALLY needs addressing. One huge aspect that lets the course down is the lack of pretty much any signage whatsoever, including tee box markers with hole layout, yardages etc. A little effort in addressing this would go a long way. Similarly, an on course halfway house for a drink / sausage roll would improve the experience largely - an old shed with smashed up windows sits where a small one may have been in past years.
Very mixed feelings for what could be so much better
