Tytherington too wet
Have never complained on reviews before but the golf company seem to be concentrating on new hotel built during covid. Would like to say the course was in pure condition the excuse was it is on clay but the greens were in excellent condition but looked like the ground staff had only partially cut the fairway and the bunkers were in terrible will e contracting golf now for partial refund
Course conditions
Love this course, but with weather conditions being so poor, almost every shot was plugged.
Great course to play in the summer...
Tytherington
Me and 3 pals played this course on 15th August and, whilst there had been a period of heavy rainfall during the previous couple of weeks, we were all very surprised about how wet the golf course was. However, that was not the problem.
Having booked through the Teeofftimes website, for a reasonable green fee, we were appalled at the condition of the golf course.
All of the greens had been hollow-tined (9mm) and spead with circa half an inch of sand, that hadn't been properly brushed into the green's surfaces. The sand was wet and the combination of this with the tining meant putting was virtually impossible, and totally ruined our visit.
In addition, at least 3 of the flags on the green didn't actually fit into the sockets of of the cups, which meant they were leaning against the side of the holes causing damage, or lying on the green's surface.
Additionally, the clubhouse was closed, for refurbishment, so there was no pro-shop available or anywhere to change and have a drink afterwards.
How it can be acceptable to charge a 4-ball nearly £80 to play on a course in that condition is beyond me, which is sad because the course layout itself is very good. One does wonder whether the Club is in financial difficulties.
Anyone contemplating a visit any time soon, should make some inquiries about the condition of the course before doing so - it's unlikely we'll ever go back.

Had a great round of golf didn’t play great but thought the fairways and greens were superb very good course and excellent value for money. Think I may play this course regularly cause it’s not too hilly and it’s close to my new home.
Thank you very much for your kind and valued feedback Keith. If you have been playing once a week, have you considered joining us as a Member? We have some excellent offers on and it's an exciting time to be with us! Feel free to contact me personally on s.johns@theclubcompany.com if you'd like any further information.
Thanks again, regards Steve.
Enjoyed
Course in good condition, greens were a bit slow! Long course but generous fairways. The only criticism was the presence of a lot of stones in the bunkers! Surely an upmarket course can afford good quality sand!
Bank holiday knock
Played with 4 mates from my golf club. All single figure players. Great course layout. Challenging but fair. Good day away. Could be really good. Unfortunately some greens were showing some signs of disease and were quite slow but disease is being addressed. A few tees had not been cut and some areas of rough needed cut around greens. Overall condition reasonable but not good value at full green fee.. Needs to be better maintained. We booked on line. Value for money at price paid but needs to decide what target market is. In terms of golf people will pay more to play here but only if maintained to higher standard, Bar quite pricy.
Course was lovely £30 round steap
£20 would be a great price
Food and drinks good price ok
Testing but fun
In my opinion this is one of the best courses in Cheshire. Every hole on the course test a different part of your game.
Lower handicappers will enjoy the Par 5s as some are reachable but not without risk and mid/high handicappers will enjoy plotting themselves around some of the more tricky holes on the course.
Favourite hole is the par 5 12, dog leg left with water down the left hand side, 3 accurate shots are needed to reach the undulating green, where you are happy to 2 putt.
100% worth a visit if you've not been, you'll definitely come back and play it again!
Poor winter course.
To say this is a wet course would be an understatement. I asked about course conditions before booking. Alls we were told was that the greens had been spiked and rolled two weeks ago. The greens were spot on. Couldn't fault them for this time of year. However. The rest of the course was absolutely soaked. Fairways and rough were terrible considering we've had very little rain. It would of been nice to have been told this before. The amount of leaves around the course was shocking. Obviously this can't be helped but some attempt to clean them up would of helped. If you were in the leaves it wasn't even worth looking for the ball. Again this would of been appreciated before we drove 30 miles to play. I've played this course in the summer and it's fantastic. The greens were exceptional dornthis time of year and couldn't fault them. Also the lack of markers pointing to the next holes is frustrating and slows play down a lot as you have no idea where you're going without the help of a shout off the local members. Considering we are only a few days into winter rules this is a very wet course for the time of year. Average at best.
Dear Sir/Madam,
First of all may I apologise for the delay in anyone getting back to your valued feedback.
I can only also apologise that the condition of the course was not conveyed to you before or during your booking and absolutely agree that this is unacceptable.
With regards to the Clubhouse, again apologies for any inconvenience. Areas of it have been closed due to us constructing a new 65 bedroom hotel which we hope to be open in Spring 2020. The new developments do include a new Pro Shop which is opening shortly. Please feel free to contact me personally on s.johns@theclubcompany and let us see if we can show yourself and your 3 guests how we look when on top form.
Thank you again for your feedback. Regards, Steve.
