The course is a good challenge

The course with its tree lined fairways is a great challenge for a mid handicapper. The greens were in very good condition which you would expect for this course. The staff and members were very welcoming. Great day all round.

Lovely Golf Course

We got the weather and I played well so I was going love it anyway, that said, we've been twice before with a society and this is a gem of a course. Not too long, with plenty of variation hole to hole. Immaculate greens and beautiful surroundings. Food here is lovely too if you get to stay back after the round or come as a society. Highly recommended.

It is extremely hard not to like all aspects about this course.

For early in the season Vicars Cross was in outstanding condition, the set up of the course is wonderful and very picturesque. The round was most enjoyable, enhanced by this well maintained course, l have no doubts the members take great pleasure from playing it, and as a visitor l can fully understand why!

Vicars Cross in March 2017

For the time of year and with all the recent rain, the course played well and was reasonably dry under foot. The greens were in good condition and putted true. The green staff have clearly put in a lot of effort and I'm sure this will pay dividends this year. The staff in the Pro shop and the bar couldn't be more welcoming or helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Great greens well maintained

A well maintained course with very fast greens for this time of the year which was a surprise for the time of year. I could imagine this would be great to play in the summer and look really stunning, well worth a play. Pro was very helpful and helped me out with a few hints.

Excellent condition for December

We enjoyed our round today. Everyone that we met was friendly and helpful, offering advice about buggies and playing conditions. The course itself is set in beautiful Cheshire countryside, wit lovely views over the rolling meadows. Course design is good, presenting enough challenges to make it interesting, but not too daunting for less experienced players, like me. There are a lot of bunkers, in excellent condition and strategically placed so that considerable skill is required to avoid them. A stream and ditch run all through the course, adding extra hazards. I was grateful for the helpfully placed extra large pond scoops, which did mean that I didn't actually lose any balls. The dips and hills add to the enjoyment. The greens were in magnificent condition for December, rolling straight and true. It is probably best to come prepared with a carry bag in winter, as only winter hedgehog tyres are permitted and, even then, many areas are completely roped off for trolleys. Definitely a course worth playing.

Very Wet

This weekend, has seen some very heavy rain, 1vicars X GC is an inland parkland course which is undulating.

The main problem for the course is drainage, what ever its built on, it does not drain well at all, even though there are drainage ditches everywhere.

Ive played this course in the summer in a open competition, so lets just say that today is not a fair time to leave a review due to the course conditions.

On the whole, Vicars X can offer a good test of golf, bring a good game there in the summer and you will enjoy it, theres quite a few undulations and you can be penalised for a good drive, your ball could find a down hill lie, so local knowledge is a must to score well here.

My 3 ball, met a group following who were a little rude, we were being shouted at for crossing a rope, bearing in mind we were carrying, so how were we expected to hit the ball only 35 ft away?

I guess they were only being a little over protective.

No heating on in the clubhouse, it was freezing, we did have a breakfast which was ok and ok as in value, crockery was cold so a hot brew was not going to happen!

( brought my own thermos anyway, didnt use it in the clubhouse though!)

Would i go back?....Nope...
