Good course
Getting dry this time of year but a great course with some lovely features. One of the more difficult course when the ground is hard.
5hrs 10 minutes round!!!
Turned up on Saturday after booking a tee time on the golf now app. 3 of us turned up on the first tee to the find out that they double booked our slot as we both had a 2.24pm tee time! Not once did we see a Marshall on the golf course speeding up play and there was 5 occasions where there were 3 groups on each tee at any one time. A 5 hour 10 minute round for a 3 ball is simply not good enough and they need to look at there system and instead of double booking people, look to increase the gaps between tee times. Greens were in good condition, fairways weren’t great.
Potentially stunning but suffering right now
The quality of this tricky, hilly, parkland course is clear with what appeared to be excellent facilities and an impressive clubhouse and approach. However, once on the course, the fairways were bare with tricky lies and there were signs of tired maintenance. Difficult to assess whether the condition of the course was down to the volume of players or a leftover from the pandemic but given the pace of play it felt like the course simply wasn’t getting the time to breathe. That said, there are signs of quality greenkeeping and hopefully time will allow the team to get this course back to the its true potential. An extra £5 and an extra 5 minutes per tee time may make a difference for the long term success.
Great course well set up
Played a 2 ball at Westerham on a Tuesday afternoon. The course had clearly had a lot of traffic but had still held up, in particular the greens were receptive to approach shots but also a very good pace when putting. Driver stayed in the bag for most of the round as not needed for most holes. Some very visually appealing holes and great views as you make your way around. I would definitely play here again!
Good course that will be spoiled by pace of players
Course looks like it would be a great course on a dry summer's day, it was very wet today (no surprise and not marked the course down because of this) Several reviews allude to slow play however I do think the club does as best they can. I was greeted by the starter who encouraged me to get out 15 mins early, i would have liked to warm up and hit a few balls but glad I didn't as otherwise I'd have been stuck behind 3x 3 balls.
I was surprised at the numbers on the course and play was fairly stop start but with no long delays (5+mins).
You will use your driver less than normal unless you really trust your drives or you like ending up in trouble.
Overall a very well designed course but I wouldn't recommend it due to the slow play which is a shame.
I've not reviewed the staff friendliness or other amenities as I can't give a fair assessment due to not really using them.
Slow play ruins a good course
Practice facilities are excellent although let down by the worst practice balls ever-you've got one of the best practice grounds going-spend the money on buying decent/new golf balls.
When you book, ask whether there's a society and/or golf comp on during the day. Nothing wrong with either of those pursuits you just want to know that before you book. We had to come off after 9 as just way too many on the course, Backed up all the way round and didn't fancy waiting 10 minutes to play each shot for another 3 hours .
Real shame as course in great nick, greens were superb just think the Club is thinking more about the money than it is about the people out there playing.
Little slow
Lovely course with great staff but pace of play was quite slow on a Tuesday.
Nice course, very slow play
Good course layout with an aesthetically appealing back 9; however despite seeing no four balls, following a 1ball and 2x 2balls, the round still took 4:15 with waits on every tee and approach.
Hit and Miss
Never had a problem here before today, after 9 we found players jumping ahead of us to get the round finished, we ended up coming off on the 13th as it ended up a que on the tees, definitely would not return in a hurry
keep it in play
excellent golf course. always in good condition. greens are good but a little slow. course gets very busy friday, Saturday and sunday which means very slow play. good test for all level of golfer.
Excellent Course
Really nice course which makes you think all the way round. Some very narrow entries to greens mean you have to be in the right spot. Only pulled the big stick about four times.
In great condition, very well kept. Greens are very undulating but run quick and true.
It's rather hilly, so if you're not that fit take a buggy.
Only one gripe - Teeofftimes confirmed we had a 2 O'clock tee booked. When we got there we had lunch first and were then told it was 1.52. (At 1.40) Not much of a difference but we could have turned up ten minutes later than we did and missed it! Pro explained that they allocate the nearest time available. Shame no-one came back and told us that. In an extreme example the tee time could be a lot more than 8 minutes different.
Annoyingly slow
Chose to return here after many many years as an 18th birthday treat for my son.
The course is stunning with unbeatable views and in top condition.
But, the day was ruined by the pace of play. 5 hours for a two ball in a buggy. Ridiculous.
15 min wait on every tee from the 2nd onwards, mostly due to an un-coordinated society who really needed course marshals to urge them along, especially when one participant stood in the fairway for 5 mins on a phone call.
The round was ruined due to the prolonged wait on every hole, a view echoed by the member playing in front of us. So disappointing and probably would stop me from returning
Nice Course
Really nice course but 4 and half hours for a 2 ball is quite frankly ridiculous
