Cherokee Valley Course and Club
About
Surrounded by rolling hills, Cherokee Valley Golf Club has a beautiful setting and temperate climate that draws visitors from all over the state. It feels peacefully tucked away but the course is only minutes from downtown Greenville's attractions. The challenging layout features eleven lakes and more than 50 strategically placed bunkers. The dramatic elevation changes provide even more challenges. It is seemingly a very intimidating golf course but the wide fairways and clean rough make it much more forgiving than it looks. The fifth hole is the golf course's signature. There is a beautiful cascading waterfall on this hole as well as a stunning view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Cherokee Valley G.C. is known almost as much for its practice facility as it is for the golf course. The popular, state-of-the-art facility includes a triple-tiered driving range, two putting greens, and a chipping green.

Looking for a challenge with elevation
Course in good shape and loved the elevation changes.
Will be back
Beautiful day . The course was interesting and had some challenging elevation changes and some blind shots.
Greens were in good shape remainder of course maintenance could be stepped up.
Lunch sandwiches at the half way house were very good.
Cherokee Valley would love to have you back as well. It is great to hear you enjoyed the interesting elevations and the lunch sandwiches!
Sllloooowwww play
We were one of the early morning foursomes and it took 2 1/2 hours to play the front nine. A threesome two groups in front of us were slow and wouldn't let others play through. No on course Marshall to push them to pick up the pace. Several twosomes skipped holes because they tired of waiting. Those are players lost forever to Cherokee.
We are sorry that the pace of play was not up to standard for your round, and we certainly appreciate the feedback so that we can try to resolve the issue of slower groups. We hope to have you back again soon to enjoy the course!
Was a perfect day at the golf course
Took a chance by driving down south to Cherokee Valley GC from Hendersonville NC. Course was in great shape, greens were smooth , lot of different types of golf holes, some views were better than spectacular. Pro shop had great deals and the staff couldn't be nicer. Played in under 4 hours and I would make another visit to this place in a heartbeat . Bob in the pro shop help us with any questions we had and will visit there again.
Michael F from Scottsdale AZ
We are so glad you took the time to make the journey down to our course, Mike! We are always working hard to ensure our course conditions make your experience the best we can, and we know mother nature does all the work on the breathtaking views! The staff is grateful for your kind words and we hope to see you again soon!
Greens and tee boxes need work
Fairways were pretty good but the tee boxes had uneven grass and the greens had no grip at all. Might as well put some putt putt carpet as the greens it would play just as good and save on the water bill. Horrible greens for what this course should and could be.
Thank you for your time and willingness to provide some insight on your round. We can certainly work with our ground team to enhance our tees and greens to make sure your round with us is a memorable one. We hope to have you back soon!
Rocks in the bunkers
Quality has slipped since last year. Several greens on the front 9 are patchy. Tee boxes are not level in many cases and struggling for grass (#13 is a lost cause). Fairway grass is thin, leaving tight lies. Other (less expensive) courses in the area are in better shape this time of year. The fairway bunkers on #14 are littered with rocks (like ... A LOT of rocks ... 1 every 6" I'd say).
For $43, I felt like I was not getting the course value for my money.
Now, the views are phenomenal on the course. So maybe that's what you are paying for. If you want a beautiful day outside you can't beat Cherokee ... but if you just want a round of golf on better than average conditions, look elsewhere.
Very true. The course was a little better last year. Should be taken better care of. I've been to much better for much cheaper.
We encourage you to surf our website for daily tee time deals and apologize for the conditions you felt during your round. Please email me directly at loriteetimes@gmail.com
Gem
Great course with helpful staff. Tee boxes need work. Greens where good. Nice speed and contour. Need to go look at landing areason so you do not hit wrong Club off tee. Would play again and again.
Witnessed an ace on their signature hole par 3 15th. Beautiful views.
Wow to witness an ace on the 15th must have been incredible to see. We would love to have you back again and again as well!
Good course with some great views.
Really enjoyed my round. The holes are all much shorter than usual, presumably because of the extreme elevation changes. Definitely a mountain course. Some great views. Most of the holes are very straight. The hole with the waterfall was definitely my favorite. Even with the cart you have to do a lot of walking on this course because there are many holes where carts aren't allowed ( due to the steep inclines). The front nine was more interesting and in better shape than the back nine.
Glad to hear the hole with the waterfall was your favorite and you enjoyed playing the front nine the best!
Great Value
This is a fantastic course for a great price. Beautiful views. The course is in good shape. Very little traffic so pace of play is good. Its a little bit of a drive for me but worth the trip.
Cherokee Valley is happy to hear you make the trip out to our course and it is well worth it for you! Great picture!
Great mountain course
The course is in very good shape. Lots of elevation changes and the view on 15 is spectacular. Greens were smooth and rolled true. Not very busy when I was there so the pace of play was very good. Nice little practice areas next to the clubhouse and good food at the turn. Can't beat it for the price.
It's great to hear you enjoy the view from the 15th hole and you were ablet o take advantage of the practice facilities before your round. Also nice to hear you enjoyed your food at the turn!
Poor management
My playing partner and I were extremely disappointed with the pace of play at this course. 18 holes took 5 & 1/2 hours. There was no ranger on the course and the tee times scheduled too close together. Several times there were three foursomes on the tee at the same time. Also, the guy in the clubhouse told me the green were rolling good when I called to make the tee time. He lied. They had punched the greens about 9 or 10 days prior to our arrival and putts bumped all over the place. I think the management of this facility could use some new people or some training for the ones there now. I will have to take a while to decide if I ever go back to Cherokee Valley......
We are sorry to hear that you had a negative experience yesterday out at our course. We would love to fix this by sending you a promo code for the next online round you book with us. Please email me at loriteetimes@gmail.com to further discuss.
Great Location, Bad Timing
I really like Cherokee Valley. It's a challenging course for myself, but who doesn't like a challenge.
The course was in great condition, except for the greens. Which had been recently aerated and sanded. And I do mean sanded! I understand the reason for this, but a heads up would be great.
Thank you for the feedback. Your voice is being heard and we will do a better job on giving a heads up next time we aerate. We are glad you enjoyed the course other than this!
nice layout but aerated greens
We had an early tee time to avoid the extreme heat and the greens had been aerated and were very sandy and damp so putting was a challenge but as the round progressed, they dried out and putted a bit better but not as good as they should have.
One strange thing about this course is that they don't have any holes markers so you have to pay attention to your scorecard and we took a wrong turn going from the 17th green to the 18th hole and actually played the 14th again until we realized our mistake as the next hole was a short par 3. Some of the tee boxes had dead grass and this is probably from the freeze and now the heat.
Course has some quirky holes and without a guide book you wouldn't have any idea of how to play since they blind tee shots so you need to drive up and get a look @ the landing areas. I played from the white tees on the front 9 and then the senior tees on the back - the difference isn't that much but I shot much better as I was hitting short irons into most of the greens on the back. The course on the back plays shorter than on the front with a premium on accuracy off the tee.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a detailed review. Your feedback is being heard!
First timer
Really enjoyed the layout and 6500 yes from back tees was challenging but fair. Greens fun to putt but slopes made them difficult. Only down side were the traps which were hard and washed out a bit but didn't take away from a great golf experience. I went back the next day on a Friday afternoon and played in 3:15 versus 4:45 the first day teeing off at 12
Glad to hear your first round with us was so great that you came back the next day! We hope to see more of you!
test your skills
It has everything you could ask for in a golf course,so be ready for a challenge
Everything you ask for in a golf course...thank you for the kind review!
Great condition but very slow play
Only got a few gripes. No ranger to enforce pace of play. They need to combine 2somes. Last is the bar/grill/bathrooms close at 4pm on Sunday. Why so early? Besides that the course is in great condition.
Glad you enjoyed the conditions during your round but please email me directly to find out more about the pace of play at loriteetimes@gmail.com
Fun course!
Always a good time at Cherokee Valley. Don't get too distracted on #15!
Happy to hear you always have a good time at Cherokee Valley!
All I expected and more
I had heard a lot of good talk about Cherokee Valley and it exceeded my expectations. Fun to play, some tricked up holes but all in all, a good golf course to play. I'm a walker so it might not fit into my regular schedule. The annual fees sound reasonable and include a cart which obviously takes away my ability to walk the course. I'll be back and let my golf partner drive the cart and walk as much as I can.
We are glad to hear Cherokee Valley exceeded your expectations and that you will be back with your partner!
Peaceful surroundings with stunning views
Looking for a great challenge with tremendous views? Well Cherokee Valley is the perfect fit for both of your needs.
Thanks for the great recommendation! We are happy to see you back again
Pretty Course, Great Views, Friendly Staff
It's a great course with some beautiful views. But my goodness, those greens are elevated. Better have a good loft to get it up there and to stay.
Thanks for the pointers and glad you enjoyed the views during your round
Thank you for the review! We're glad you enjoyed the elevation changes and we hope to have you back again soon!
