This course has a fair amount of playable elevation change that adds to the beauty of this valley.
This is an original Lee Trevino design that makes use of the scenery and the rushing river on several holes. The greens are fairly large and most fairways ample. Even with a stray drive or three ( or six), there is often a chance to recover for a one putt par or bogey. Several par fives have drastic elevation changes that make the most out of second or third shots. The par threes are possibly the best collection I've ever played on the same course. The course suffered from a flood that damaged several holes, but it's back to where it was before, The new management is dedicated to even more improvement which will move this course into the upper echelon of area courses.
A Great N.C. Mountain Course.
April 11, 2013 ; Linville Falls Preserve and G.C. is the old
( Blue Ridge G.C. ) they have made many upgrades. The ruff off the fairways have been cleaned and many wooded areas that were prone to lost golfballs have been removed. Traps are in great shape.
The only complaint that our group had was that the greens had just been aerified and their was no notifacation. About 35 minutes from I-40 or 45 minutes from the Boone and Blowing Rock area. A great way to enjoy a N.C. mountain course.
Good course with some interesting holes.
Pace of play was really good. Course needs a little attention, but we played in early spring. Overall it was good for the money.
