The distance guessing game

The bunkers weren’t in play but wasn’t informed before the game! There are no distance markers on the course! There are no ball washers on the course or bins. .

Pleasant Day Out

Had read some poor reviews about the conditions but took a punt. Was in great condition, there are some works ongoing around the course but with the exception of the 11th fairway the course was immaculate.

Pace of play was decent despite it being busy.
Was playing on my own so it was very much appreciated when the course pro asked me to run out ahead of a 4 ball.

Real Golf Test

This is a proper golf course. Lots of variety and challenges for people that like golf. Fortunately it has been dry all week as clearly some drainage problems. In addition the course could be doing with some green keeping but that is probably why I paid 30 pound and not 90 pound. Overall value at this price as a change from your local, if the rain has stayed off.

Great course. Poor condition and drainage.

Course is long. Well laid out and greens great. Pity the drainage everywhere on the fairways is so bad. Really soft and wet.

Very Wet

Far too expensive given the conditions underfoot. Plugged balls on most fairways. Fairways mostly moss. Greens poor. Local municipal courses in far better condition and a third of the price.

Great course

Played for first time today- great layout with some smashing holes - reminded me of gleneagles pga course. Lots of well positioned bunkers and run offs on greens so need to plot your way around. Tees looked very brown but didn’t affect play in anyway . Greens were not the best I’ve played this year but were fine. Our four ball was halved so was good to settle it at the extra 19th hole. Overall great day out and great value for money. Will play again

Good Value Round

Played this course with a mate. Weather was dry but windy. Large greens which had been cored and sanded I'd guess 2 weeks before we played made the greens slightly uneven. Pace of play was good and a friendly welcome in the Pro-Shop. A fair bit of walking between holes makes the course feel long. Fairways slightly mossy in patches but well worth a visit and we felt good value considering its a 20 minute drive from Glasgow.

Good - but long.

Excellent course, bit too long for an inexperienced player like me but cannot fault the course in any way at all.

Nice but wet

This course has the potential to be a world class course. The views are glorious and the course has a nice layout. However. The whole place was like a bog. Sinking into the fairway (when I found it). The pro told me it would be wet but I didn’t realise how bad it would be. Definitely won’t be back until we’ve had a few weeks of consistently good weather. A shame

Layout, tees, bunkers and greens outstanding.

Sadly drainage issues appear to continue to be an issue. I appreciate we played at this time of year but it was the third of three dry days. It didn’t spoil my enjoyment of the course but having now played it 3times (at different times of the year) I would love to play it with dry fairways.

I thought the course was in a lovely setting and well laid out. The greens and tees were great but the fairways were unfortunately very boggy underfoot.
I'd love to play again in the summer when it was a lot dryer and firmer.
Good restaurant and very friendly and helpful staff.
I'll be back.

Avoid

Course should have been closed as it can’t cope with persistent rainfall. Terrible drainage , bunkers like swimming pools. Mud everywhere and not a good experience.

Wet

Great course and layout, but was so so wet underfoot it was impossible to play, shame really . If the course ever dries I would love to play it again as it would be fantastic.

Washout

Extremely Disappointed with the condition of the course - we were told it would be a bit wet since it had been raining. However there was not a single area of dry course - it was completely unplayable. The course should have been closed!

Disappointing as the course looks lovely, but it is completely water logged - not sure how a reasonable hilly course like this can be so consistently wet. Plugged ball on every drive when landing on the fairways. 6 or so inches of water in some bunkers. Greens were in a good condition and firm.

Bought as a birthday round for my brother, extremely disappointing. Will never be returning here and requesting refund.

Lack of facilities

Chose this local course for a round just after Christmas, knew it would be wet hence the green fee however we did not expect there to be no facilities, no shop open, no changing room, no coffee or drinks available. Such a pity this was not shown when I booked.
