Berrington Hall
Enjoyable round of golf , course was very quiet. Good mixture of holes, nice par 3s. Need some sand in them bunkers though.
Save me!
I've played this course about 4 or 5 times over the last couple of years, the condition is improving but as yet not to a high standard.
The layout of the course is nothing short of spectacular and really challenging. It will be a great pity but without a large investment it will probably close, so if you get the chance play this lovely course while you can.
Enjoyable & Course in good condition
Although the white & yellow tees are closed for winter the golf course still provided a good challenge. The drainage is very good on most holes so plugging & mud wasn't a problem. The greens were in good condition.
Very friendly welcome & the bacon barms are great!!!
Just one thing the local roadworks can cause delays so give yourself plenty of time to get to the course.
Good course
Well kept course considering weather we've had lately. Some great looking holes with big well maintained greens. Can't fault it for the price either £14. Definitely be back
It was sodden
Would love to play this course again, but not till it's dried out.it was like a bog but we have had a lot of rain.it was well signposted for the next tee and the greens were fast.
Fantastic day of golf
Brilliant day of golf course in fantastic condition members we spoke to very polite will definitely play again.
A Much Improved Course
Played this course yesterday and was amazed how dry it was after several days of heavy rain. I have played this course frequently over the last 2 years and it is improving all the time.
Last minute booking
Booked course on the 16th staff friendly informed us of repairs being carried out on course. Course in great condition seeing weather has been wet over the past week totally enjoyed the round of golf would recommend.
Challenging Course
Course in great condition played very well not water logged like other courses after rain. Front 9 greens in better condition than back 9 a little bald in places ball bobbled at times but a great course will book again in near future.
Challenging
Nice course, layout good with various degrees of challenging shots, narrow fairways mean staying straight is a must. Good clubhouse, food, drink and friendly staff. Only downside was the greens, weather had an impact on them leaving them a bit bobbly. All in all had a good enjoyable round and will continue to play when we can get a round for £17.
1st timer on Berrington
9.40 tee off time, 2 ball.
Probably one of the nicest courses we have visited for a while.
Course was in pretty good shape and the grounds staff did let us know that the greens were not in great condition due to recent good weather and the watering system was being repaired.
Despite this the course was beautiful to look at and even more challenging to play with an array of dog-legs, water hazards, mixture of par 3,4 and 5’s with low SI’s on the back nine. Generous fair-ways spread over 6400 yards - a 4 hour round
We are amateurs, but found the course very well planned in terms of hazards, inc bunkers at key positions, so you have to plan your driving position for your next shot.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the round and would definitely come back for more!!
Sunny golf
Course , greens , fairway in excellent shape good challenge all round
Excellent course
Course was in great condition , greens well maintained great water hazards
Great course but a lot of walking between holes.
We were behind a society so very slow
Very disappointed this time round.
Played here few weeks back after long periods of bad weather, I thought the course was great considering the weather we'd had and was really looking forward to playing again after better weather.
I played again yesterday and was so disappointed. The course has had problems with their watering so greens are solid.
The greens are patchy and bare with loads of bobbles in. Also the greens had been top dressed but also had some fertiliser spread too. This meant every green stank of manure, the ball bounced everywhere on every putt making it almost impossible to hit a good putt.
Your ball also picked up the fertiliser as it rolled, ruining your putt.
There was a lot of cut grass left on sides of fairways making shots in the rough very hard to find.
I'm afraid I won't be returning here any time soon as the course is a long way from a condition I would be happy to pay for.
A disappointing return.
It is a few years since I last played here and recent reviews were quite positive so thought it worth another try.
The layout has been significantly altered (for the better) but the amount of water (ponds not standing water!) and thick rough covered with grass cuttings meant plenty lost balls even when only just off the fairway!!
It's a long course with long walks between some holes so certainly not for the faint hearted.
Overall I won't be rushing back and there are better, more forgiving courses around for less cash.
Bad manners and poor etiquette
My wife and I played on a blisteringly hot day. Due to the bad manners and poor etiquette of the four-ball in front, a golf society from Liverpool, we took 4 1/2 hours to play this course. They were clearly poor golfers, short on drive distance and at least one of them in trouble on every hole.
An approach fand our request to fnally to play through was met with a denial on the grounds that they already let a two ball through earlier.
They had clearly lost ground on the play in front but were determined no one else would get through. I believe everyone should be allowed to play their golf but the club should Marshall the course on particularly hot and busy days to ensure this type of instance is dealt with. As for this particular 4 ball. Rude, loud and bad mannered.
On the improvement
Firstly the course is dry so the drainage is great, tee boxes are decent but some fairways need a bit of attention, the greens are firm for the time of year and on the day had recently been sanded so couldn't tell there true condition but looked OK, the course itself is a tough test with some great holes and features on the whole it was good for the time of year considering the last winter, hopefully will improve further through the summer
Much improved course
I have played this course a few times over the years and this is the best condition it has been in. The ground staff appear to be doing a great job as despite the amount of rain we have had recently the course was quite dry. On the day I played the greens were quite bobbly, but that was mainly because they had been top dressed. I will definitely be playing here more often.
