Good Enough...
Nice course with awesome views... As expected for a late fall/winter day. It is SUPER BUSY!!!! Be prepared to hustle.
Golfers
We were a threesome and within the first 5 holes we let 4 single players play through. There were 2 players behind us that were singles however they teamed up. I have never had this happen to me before and never want it to happen again.
Good course, needs some work
Overall it was an average course. The greens need some work. Pace of play was average. Did not take water well.
Great course!
I really enjoyed this course. There were torrential down pours throughout the area but short of not being able to play the bunkers everything played well.
Best way to see the Cherry Blossoms
This is East Potomac's 9-hole executive course. It has an open layout with fairly straight fairways and few hazards. Can get a bit muddy at times, but it is situated in the middle of an island in the Potomac. Also note, there are frequent flyovers by various government aircraft, mostly helicopter, including Marine One, so if you like that kind of stuff, it's a fun 9 holes to play. It's also a guaranteed way to enjoy the cherry blossoms up close without the annoying crowds that descend on DC in the spring (just get there early because the tourists don't seem to understand that the parking lot is only for golfers. This is a problem only during the cherry blossom festival. The rest of the year, no problem with parking). The staff is awesome, but the course could use some more upkeep than the federal budget will allow (it's run by the NPS). Overall, a nice way to get in 9 holes with lovely views.
unbelievable skyline views of DC
It's the perfect golf course for someone just starting golf or need a cheap round. Closest course for those working downtown. The views on the White course are amazing. Otherwise, it's a flat, wide open cow pasture with flagsticks. The facility has a very good driving range. Sitting out on the veranda of the snack bar is a DC tradition. You never know who you will run into --- I ran into Bob Hope there hitting balls back in the 80's and played with a
US Congressmen. . Great place to take a new golfer. Come with patience and the right attitude. Expect long rounds, mediocre conditions - but the price is right! Every now and then someone comes up with a plan to turn this into a really upscale tour level location. I hope this never happens and it maintains the local, family friendly feel.
