My favorite course by a country mile.
Good fairways, great bunkers and fantastic greens. Open links style course thats been built right. Whether its been hit by a deluge of heavy rain or playing after a run of consecutive hot days, the course holds up really well. Well drained and well looked after.
Walking is not impossible but distance from some greens to next tees are fairly long, though being built in and around a housing estate, you get that.
I love it and for $35 inc cart after 2pm, thats very cheap for a course of this caliber.
Challenging Links Style Course
I am a member at Mandalay and play it at least twice per week. It is a great Peter Thompson layout with wide fairways, large greens and lots of bunkers. It is very challenging and needs good control for a low score. The difficulty is reflected in the fact that it has a 132 slope rating. A great course to play. Highly recommended.

Fantastic golf course
A fantastic golf course , the members made me feel welcome and we had a great day. I would recommend this course to all golfers .
Nice Course
We played Mandalay for the 1st time last Sunday. The course was in lovely condition and it was great value at $27 AUD per round.
In terms of the course design , the course is long by Australian Standards with wide Fairways and large greens. The geography is fairly flat, and some of the holes seem to blend into each other (we had difficulty remembering specific holes after the round as many of the par 4's are very similar).
If you can get a good deal on the price, it's definitely worthwhile taking the drive from Melbourne for a look.
Excellent golf course
Great course, excellent condition and very challenging. Great value for money.one of my favourite melbourne courses. Highly recommended
Awesome Course
I have played Mandalay many times. After playing here, why would you play anywhere else in Melbourne's north???
Course is in magnificent condition: generous lush couch fairways and large fast true greens with challenging bunkering to negotiate.
The wind is often a factor, and the way the course plays can change dramatically depending on its direction. The back to back par 5's (16th & 17th) are a good example, where one is often reachable in 2 but the other will play very long.
Good mix of long and short par 4's. The short 5th is real risk/reward stuff, with a nasty 2-tiered green.
The set of par 3's are as challenging as you will play anywhere!
Nice modern clubhouse / cafe / restaurant with friendly service, great food and multiple beers on tap.
Great course and great value for money. A "must play"!!!
This course is in great condition
This course is fairly young in age but it is a very challenging course. The fairways are ample in size and in great condition. Most of the greens have bunkers protecting them and you need to think about how you are going to attack each hole. The course is very open at the moment with only young trees offering little protection from the wind. The wind also plays a big part in getting around this course, club selection is important when the wind is strong when I played. The course it self is being well maintained by the maintenance staff, the fairways and greens look fantastic. The greens are fairly hard and good in size. The fairways are wide however you need to keep the ball in the fairways as the rough can be challenging to get out of.
This is a great course which I enjoy playing I hope you will to.
Welcoming and friendly staff
The day started well with a warm greeting by the friendly staff in the proshop followed by a good coffee in the cafe / restaurant again manned by friendly and welcoming staff.
The course starts gently with a short par 4 where the approach if not treated with respect can bite hard and whatever you do dont miss left. The course itself was in great condition with generous fairways with thick covering, greens protected by strategically placed bunkers with safe bail out areas being short, the greens were fast and tricky but rolled truely. If you want to score well best you make hay on the par 5's as the par 3's can beat you up especially the very challenging 15th. A nice finishing hole where if you rip a drive up the centre you will have a wedge in hand giving you a chance to finsh the round off with a birdie.
Once the round is completed head to the cafe or restuarant for casual or formal dining. I had the club sandwhich which I would highly recommend and if your not driving they have a good selection of beers, wines and cocktails.
Easy access off the Hume Freeway means if you are travelling up from Melbourne it does not take as long as expected. Also if your heading down to Melbourne for any reason bring your clubs as it would make a welcome pitstop.
Overall experience was very positive and I will venture back soon
