Desert Dunes, Cathedral City, Ca

The course was in terrible shape, especially for the price we paid...85. I worked have expected a lot better conditions.

Amazing Course

Hidden gem the way golf should be. Super reasonable price for an amazing course. Not your typical condo-lined resort course. Maintenance could be better, many sand traps unplayable. Not windy day we played. Lots of wildlife, road runners, bunnies and three lynx. One even played with my golf ball! Would come back. Not an inviting clubhouse for apres-golf.

Worst experience ever

We booked a 1240 tee time so we could get done by dark. Nightmare started right away when we went to first tee and the said to us the pro shop let a group off the street bud in our tee time. There was 4 riders but only 3 players playing and they said they were going to play best ball so they would be fast. After the first hole they played regular golf and all four players were playing the fourth player was having to use golf clubs from the other cart because he was left handed. He would walk across the fairway the get club , walk back and hit his ball then walk back over to return club, then walk back over to his cart again very hard to watch this all day. At the tenth tee they were 2 holes behind and showing no sign of picking it up so we could all get done.
The course conditions were very poor. The grass was poor and we had to play bump your ball every where. The sand traps were unplayable
and most of them were full of water from over watering and thoughs that had no water puddles in them were not sand traps but more like mud traps. Greens look like there is no re seeding happening there and they were slow, very spotty and putts were bouncing.
Had to finish in the total dark after we asked the group in front of us to pick it up. It turned in to a yelling match from the four younger golfer in front who also slowed down and tryed to intimidate us. The worst golf experience ever I would NOT RECOMMEND THIS COURSE

Challenging but fair.

Fun layout, green complexes demand accurate approach shots, or tough up/downs.

Nice track

First time playing this course and we were impressed overall. Don’t be fooled by the condition of the first two holes, it gets better as you get further into your round. Lots of clover on the first hole and the green isn’t in good shape. But holes 3-18 are in much better condition. A few blind tee shots, but you can check the small map on the scorecard. Staff were friendly in the pro shop and restaurant area. For under $100 this course was a good challenge and fun to play.

Tough RTJ track

Conditions were fine for early January.. The front nine is scorable, but the back is really challenging with many landing zones pinched. Play when the wind is light.

Great Value, cute course

First time here. Friendly staff, had ice in my cart ready to go. Rustic course, dry and fast. Disappointed that there were not colored balls to purchase and the cafeteria was shut down. I would come back!

Horrible shape and overpriced

Course was in really bad shape. More weeds than grass I. Many areas. NO sand in traps, just hard dirt, water and mud.

We were also got totally ripped off by this app which charged us $120 for a tee time when it was $79 at the course it turns out. So much for a “Hot deal”.

Won’t be using this app again or golfing here at desert Dunes again unfortunately

Great course, great hot dog lady

The course was great, pace of play was great and the customer service from the Marshall and the cart girl were amazing. When we finished and pulled into the cart return the older gentleman manning that station was on the phone. He was rude and snarky as our group took a photo and cleaned up our cart. He made a comment about tipping him, but he didn’t do anything at all. Whoever he was, he made sure we left with a bad taste. Not sure if we’d return after that.

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL

For the course conditions and the value for the money I was forced to give one star, but I feel one is too many. You should absolutely not play here. $90 is robbery. Robert Trent Jones Jr. should be upset that they are using his name to drive business to the course.

Nice course and staff. Slow play.

Interesting course. Great staff and clubhouse. Extremely slow play. We moved along pretty well on the front, but the back was very slow. Took about 90 minutes to do the first four holes on the back. Waiting every hole. When we ran into two groups waiting to tee off on 14 we gave up. Too cold that day to sit around waiting to hit.

Worst golf experience ever!!

Where do I even begin…
-Took 20 minutes for us to get a cart. Short staff with no carts available.
-Tee times were running behind because the staff mismanaged the large group ahead of us. It was total chaos.
-Course was in terrible shape. Inconsistent playing surface which was take. Over by clover. Greens were awful.
-Didn’t see the bev cart until the 10th hole.
-went to the bar at the turn and there was no one staffing it. When someone finally showed up they spoke little English and couldn’t make a simple drink.

This place is the worst run club I’ve ever seen and it’s not even close. Save you money, go somewhere else.
