Challenging par 3 course with some pretty narrow fairways and large trees that require accuracy out on the course. Hole 9 is especially challenging as it requires you to hit directly over 2 small bodies of water, the first one of which is spraying a large fountain of water directly in front of the tee box area.
Gem!
Excellent course to dial in your short game. Although your hitting off mats but for the money all is good.
Slow due to bad course management
It was Father's Day, but having a tee time and waiting on 2 some (we were a 2some) made it later than needed. It was backed up where a 9 hole cours took +3 hours. Kind of rediculous when we could of met other golfers an got on with foursomes.
Didn't even get to play
This review is not about the actual course but the online aspect.
I set a tee time online and when we got there we were told we couldn't golf because there was a tournament going on and they weren't sure why the system still was taking reservations.
First timer
Had a blast at this course for the first time being there, it surprised me how well maintained the course is and how friendly the staff was, I will difinetly will be going back.
Great beginners course
This review is for early morning rounds - great beginners Par 3 / 9 hole course. Pace was good - however there can be groups of six that can possibly slow the pace. Overall, fairly clean and easy course at a fair price.
Really good 9-hole
Pico has come a long way and it has paid off. The course is in top form shape. Bunker placement and the greens are not easy to get around. Perfect place to tune up your game but still have fun doing it. This is one of the better par 3 nine holes in the LA area. The bar and grill are fully stocked as well (good food and craft beers). FYI, I paid $11 thru Golf Now.... well worth the price!
Disappointed
After booking a tee time, I drove 30 miles to get there and the course was closed.
Obnoxious players
To overly populated with players who don't appreciate the game of golf. Loud speakers bumping their music being super loud and obnoxious leaving beer at the tee boxes
Strategy and skill are tested on this course.
Pico Rivera Golf Course is a gem of a short course. The trees and rough that frame the fairways don't severely penalize but, instead, make getting par harder. The two short Par 4s place danger near the green to dissuade long drivers from driving the hole. The greens are sloped and many have ridges which confuse any golfer trying to figure out which way a putt breaks. So, even though Pico is a short course, very few people par the course. It was designed by famed golf course designer William Bell. His golf designs have subtle difficulty. Before you know it, you get a bogey or double. Strategy and skill are rewarded and stupid decisions are punished. Pico Rivera Golf Course is a Bell treasure.
Great COURSE, staff a different story
The course is excellent. I love playing here, and would've given it 5 stars but they still force you to use the mats off the tee. Staff is a different story. At least three times they didn't want to give me the practice bucket that they advertise when you book using golfnow. i booked a tee time yesterday and almost didn't get to play because the pro shop said they were having a tournament in 2 hours. Sorry pico, not my fault you couldn't coordinate your day better. Again, course is awesome. So I'll be there, again.
