Walked the Blues (59.5/97/3932) with Joel, Doug & Jim in slightly less than 4H as part of a members shotgun twilight. The weather was sunny and around 80 with a little breeze.
Ted Robinson Jr. design from the mid 70's. Par 33-31=64 Executive course. Ten short par 4's, Eight par 3's. The par 4's are a good variety. A few are grip it and rip it where longer hitters can have a go at the green. Many are layup holes because of water close to the green. The course plays longer than the scorecard indicates for this reason. Other par 4's are risk/reward tight holes. The par 3's were a good mixture as well. Ranging from #10, which was playing 215 to a back pin all the way to #2, which was playing 114 to a front pin.
The tees were semi lush and well maintained.
The fairways were lush, nice to play from.
The rough was lush and mowed down to a good pace of play height, not very penal.
The sand needs separate ratings. Some of the traps have been refurbished with white, silicone sand and are immaculate. Others have crustier, brown sand that are not nearly as good to play from, just average. Overall, they are good.
Numerous greens have lakes in front of them and they are well guarded with sand. They are medium sized and look thin. However, they putt nice, firm and smooth/medium speed. Down hill putts were treacherous, you need to stay below the hole here. No tiers are huge breaks on these greens, but there were few dead straight putts.
The customer service was excellent from all encountered. I had lunch my previous visit and it was standard golf course cuisine at reasonable prices. No drink cart, did not see water stations on the course, so you need to bring your own H20. All grass driving range with a short game area. Carts were basic with no GPS.
The course is well maintained, I was told the membership owns the course. Both times I have been here it was very busy with member events. Excellent course for seniors, ladies and players who want to work on their irons. Recommended.
