Babcock National 3.5
The good: Course is in great shape, holes somewhat interesting for a resort type course.
Greens were perfect.
The Blah: Pace of play was tedious at best, singles (me) twosomes and threesomes. It I would have preferred to play with a member but was told to go it alone. That made it even slower. I asked starter why so slow after 18 and he looked at the GPS screen and said he saw no problems.
Front of the house could do better. No one helped at bag drop and no one helped when I finished. I put my own bag on a cart which is no big deal but there were two guys working and talking with other golfers. End of round the same. Can't make much on tips at BN.
I enjoyed the golf though and would go back if heavily discounted.
Good condition but only worth $75 very overpriced without a deal
Babcock Ranch is in good condition, greens run true but as a scratch golfer would prefer faster greens. Fairways and tees are good, bunkers are also good. The course layout is simple with wide fairways and large greens. It isn’t worth more than $75 but SWFL prime time can charge $125+ and get it from all the Snowbirds.
Paid for 18 plus cart - was only able to play 9
A member asked my wife and I to join their group. We booked a tee time. We were only able to get 9 holes in. Called today to get a raincheck and they denied me
Southern hospitality
Golfed here 2 days in a row . Day one I wore a light blue pair of nice shorts that had a side pocket on the leg . Day 2 I wore the same style of shorts only black and when I walked into the pro shop I was told by the attendant that I was not allowed to wear cargo shorts . I pleaded with the gentleman that I wore the same shorts the day before only to be told either buy an 80 dollar pair of shorts or I could not play . I asked for a manager and she told me that it was right in the tee time confirmation which was a lie , it only stated no denim and a collard shirt so ya they shook me down and gave me the ole have a nice day and a smile 😃
Good challenge
We played the red tees. Very fair course with some challenging and fun holes. Course is in great shape. My only issue was greens were very firm and it was hard to hold any shots, even high ones seemed to find the back fringe. We had lots of fun and fun.
Course in great shape, bunkers, fairways and greens all in great shape. Staff is very friendly. Nothing to drink but water. No pop, nothing. No food,no snacks nothing. Very disappointed.
Well-kept, but perhaps soulless course
A nicely manicured course with great amenities. The course layout felt fairly uncreative, and at times left the impression that you were playing an identical hole to one earlier in the round. A rather strict rule about golf vs. cargo shorts with inconsistent enforcement- we were stepping up to the tee (after talking with multiple other staff members at the pro shop and practice area) and the starter made my buddy go back to the pro shop and buy new shorts.
