Course in good shape but greens very bumpy & slow
This is a relatively easy course only about 6200 yards from the back (blue) tees. For a public course it’s in pretty good condition and I like that the practice areas and the driving range are very close to the clubhouse and the first tee. A few trees were still down from the very wet winter, some dead grass in the fairways but starting to fill-in now that it’s spring. Didn’t realize they had punched the greens about a week earlier; not very many holes, but they were extremely bumpy and slow.
Winter has destroyed this course
I understand what a tough winter it has been around these parts but this place is almost unplayable. I probably would have been more understanding except that there was no warning from anyone that they had punched and sanded the greens . For 65 bucks this was a joke .
Good conditions despite the heavy rain the day prior
Due to the heavy rain the day prior, you couldn't play out of bunkers -they had inches of standing water in them. There were some soggy patches in fairways. That's to be expected for CA winter time golfing. But, greens were in good shape. Nice course!
No drainage at all
Well I used to love playing Diamond Oaks but haven't played here in 8 years and my big major gripe is the drainage issue and it's very very poor. It didn't rain for 4 days and I kid you knot but every sand trap was full of water and lots of puddles everywhere. With all the money this course makes they should definitely put some of it to use and put in some irrigation. I'll come back and play it again but not until summer time.
Brown fairways
Cart path only with standing rain in bunkers and fairway grass dormer. Pin placement was difficult to one putt inside 3feet.
Slooooooow Pace
My wife and I have played here a few times in the last couple of years.. It seems like every time we play here, the group in front of us are so slow. They were either looking for their ball in the rough, or just taking their sweet time hitting. If they made contact, the ball would literally travel 20 yards away. The group in front of them was just as bad. I understand the need for beginner golfers to gain experience playing, but there were no marshals to keep the pace going. It took us 4 hours to play the front 9, when it should’ve only taken 2 hours.
Great course
Great course fairways were a little yellow but played well. Greens in excellent shape
maintained by landscaper.
Maintaining a golf course is far different than basic landscaping.
A Greenskeeper is not the same as a park maintainance hand.
A golf course Superintendent is not the same as a landscape foreman.
Woodcreek and Diamond Oaks golf courses poor conditions represent those
statements.
Fairway and green conditions
Fairway looked way to dry for the fall weather. The greens had many unfixed divots. But overall the course was great.
Older cource great tee selection
Always enjoy playing diamonds Oaks
Staff ate great a must visit
Beautiful day
Once the SLOW walking foursome left after 9 holes everything was great. Good greens fairway and such. Love this place
Pleasantly Surprised
Last time I played this course a few years back in was in fair to poor condition. This time around the course was in great condition. Greens and fairways were well maintained. The pace was a bit disappointing. I have come to the conclusion that there are too many golfers who do not understand golf etiquette. People on green talking loud while our group was teeing off. So many un repaired ball marks on the green. Foursome in front of us was exceptionally slow and never asked if we wanted to play through. They were a hole and a half behind a ladies foursome whole back nine. Needed a Marshall to keep pace up.
Pace of Play Ruined the Day
Given how much use this golf course receives, I can't complain too much about its condition. However, it was the pace of play that truly ruined the round. Had to wait anywhere between 5 to 10 minutes at each hole, making this one of the longest rounds of golf I've ever experienced.
I understand there were a couple tournaments going on, but this shouldn't excuse the ridiculously long round.
Plus, it doesn't help when so many golfers have lost the simple etiquette of picking up their ball after taking their 6th or 8th or 10th shot before getting onto the green.
